Pancreatitis

Gina was diagnosed w/ pancreatitis on May 2. After daily IV fluids, pain management and one on one care, she is recovering very well. Today is May 8th and she is almost normal. What a relief. Thanks to the fine staff at Central Texas Animal Hospital she was quickly dxd. and aggressively treated. We picked her up every evening in order to reduce her stress and to keep a close eye on her. Yesterday she was back to her usual daily walk! Yippee~~~ My gut feeling is she had a reaction to something in her routine vaccine, as her symptoms started days after she had them. Everyone knows about the tainted heparin and subsequent 88 known deaths and numerous poor outcomes, so it's not such a stretch. Of course Gina will continue to get her vaccines, but I'll be more alerted to the possibility of recurrent pancreatitis.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll take your recommendation and continue the bland diet :~(. But that is better than having her feel sick or a set back! Thanks again.

I had a dog with recurrent pancreatitis and so you are right to keep an eye on it. For her, she had a bland diet and it would flair up if we strayed.

Glad your baby is better.
