Making the Big Announcement

Today at my mother and father-in-law's house, we had to break the news of the seriousness of Joe's condition. It was met by total silence, as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins heard the terrible news of Joe's Melanoma being Stage 4. Tim's mom said a beautiful prayer, and we know that Miracles do happen, and Joe could receive one, but he has a long and painful road ahead of him. We pray that he will receive the best treatment available, and be able to go into remission, and eventually be free and clear of the disease. I feel so sorry for Joe's mom. He is her only child, and the last child in the family, no cousins, so he is the end of their family line. Barring a Miracle, I seriously doubt he will be able to have children after this situation is finished. They weren't ready to have kids yet, seeing that they felt they had so much time to wait and build a secure life together. Now that every minute is precious, I imagine that they are second guessing themselves. In many ways, having a young child would make things more difficult, needing to care for a child, or arrange care. And on the other hand, they probably won't have that option now.
This has certainly made an impact in how all of the people in our families look to the Future. It is a much scarier future than it was a mere 5 weeks ago. In that time, the bottom has dropped out of our world.
I am so fortunate to have friends here on Z2 who care what happens, and are wishing and praying for the best. I humbly Thank Each and Every One of You for your kindness and prayers. Thank you for listening to me, as I work through my shock and grief, so I can be Strong for Joe and Heather. God Bless you, my friends, and thank you for your help and suggestions. We take each and every one to heart, to see if it will help us with the situation.

Prayer for the Sick

Lord Jesus, Who went about doing good and healing all, we ask You to bless Your friends who are sick. Give them the strength in body, courage in spirit, and patience in pain. Let them recover their health, so that, restored to the Christian community, they may joyfully praise Your Name, for You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

In Time of Need

Heavenly Father, in my present need, help me to believe that You are aware of my anxiety and will do what is best for me. Give me the strength to trust You and put the present and future in Your Hands. Grant this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

You may want to check outwww.caringbridge.org My friend who has lung cancer has been using this site to keep everyone informed. She's really liked the site because she can go back and read all the positive comments when she's having a bad day. I like it because then I don't have to bother her or someone else to know what's happening. And the information is straight from her so it cuts down on rumors and mis-information.

I did think of that, and I am sure if they feel it is important then they will. I just wish everything would go back to the way it was before he got sick. But that isn't going to happen...

Julie, you know my prayers are with you, Joe and the entire family that get through this and that his cancer goes into remission. I have been down this road with my mother and I know how you can think 5 weeks ago everything was fine, my mother left for a short vacation feeling fine and came back in pain with cancer ravaging through every organ in her body.

They truly have made so many advances in cancer treatments. With that and everyone's prayers, I know he will get through this.

Julie,I tend to agree with Kathy on this,even though I am my worst enemy when it comes to second guessing.You can't change the past,that's for sure,but the future's not over yet.We have to leave it in God's hands.This may be a time when you can/will appreciate and live in the moment,and make every minute count and mean the most.My prayers and thoughts will continue of course.
Hang in there,be strong.{{{hugs}}}
