I spoke w/ Dave Wednesday night and Lucy is home and recovering...although, if it isn't one thing, it's another! Apparently, before her surgery, she was not using her back legs much, perhaps as part of a pain-avoidance posture. Well, this obviously doesn't help matters if one is arboreal, and she may have taken a few spills from her perches before Dave could get to her, resulting in some possible tail and spinal damage. He was understandably upset and beating himself up about it, as I'm sure all pet owners do from time to time--it's also hard as he lives alone and can't watch her 24/7. (Who can?!) He has modified her room yet again, to keep her as low to the ground as possible. (I remember my roomie helping me make Gnarla's cage a one-level for her recovery--but a cage was a lot easier to deal w/ than a whole room!)
Anyhow, he is relieved that the tail isn't broken and doesn't have to be amputated. She is, however, sporting a lovely bandage wrap! This is proving a challenge especially when she poops...and since she has another week before her stitches come out, baths are a no-no. Ick!
He promises to send photos eventually--not of a poopy iggy, but of her stitches*lol*--which I can't wait to see. I'm still just thrilled that she's home!
