I'd like advice please

My 15 year old Bichon, Abby, has had a runny nose for almost 2 months. The allergy season is very bad now. She sneezes violently sometimes and wheezes. She has never had the runny nose or sneezing symptoms before. The vet has her on antibiotics and antihistamins. The vet also said her bad teeth could be part of the problem because the runny nose is ony from one nostril and it's not clear in color. So, the question is at 15 yrs. old should I take the risk of putting her under to get her teeth cleaned - hoping that will solve the problem? What would you do? I don't want to lose her to anesthesia or the problems that can cause at her age but I don't want her to suffer from the problems bad teeth can cause. So, I'm looking for advice, thoughts, ideas....thanks!

My answer is NO NO NO.
The risks are way tooo high. I would try a holistic vet to treat the allergies.
Something simple like giving Blueberries might be all your dog needs.

do you mean regular fresh blueberries? I have some and I'll be happy to give them to her. We do go to a holistic vet but she hasn't recommended anything but antihistamines and an antibiotic which are not working. My husbands allergies have been terrible for 2 months and nothing is helping him. I've ordered someting called Allergena which is supposed to be great for allergies. Thanks for the advice...

I give all my dogs fresh blueberries with their food.
It is a great antioxident and also works great for tear staining.

I would say no. Baxter is 13 on Tuesday and I choose to pass on the teeth cleaning. They should be able to give you a better idea of what is wrong. If they are only guessing, I would say no. Get a second opinion. Oradell in Paramus is open 24/7 and I hear Redbank is good too.

NO, she is too old to be put under, there are risks and it's not worth it at her age, he may do it but best to make sure her heart can take it, if it were my dog at 15, I"d say no

NO i WOULDNT AT THAT AGE IT BECOMES VERY RISKY. yEARS AGO i HAD A CAT NAMED BARF (DONT ASK) anyway she had rotten teeth she was about 14 my vet didnot recommend putting her under instead he wanted to pull the teeth while she was awake. I didnt do anything because she was so old. She lived another few years and I put her down because she was having to many seisures in a day at least 4 or so
