Horrible Migraine

Well, I was down all day yesterday, and most of today with a terrible migraine. Had to take two of my migraine pills, and it still didn't go away. Almost had to go to the emergency room for it again, as the last time it was this bad, they had to give me an i.v., and a shot....But I finally got it down to a headache, so I was able to tolerate it, but i'll sure be glad when it's gone. They make me so sick to my stomach.

I know this sounds crazy and contrary to what they say you should NOT do, but when I feel a miagrane coming on I eat some kind of chocolate candy bar and it helps stop it. I swear it works for me tho I can't say why.

Sorry to hear you had another nasty migraine. I get them too, but thankfully, not often. I hope your meds work well for you.

thank you, and I hope your migraines get fewer and fewer....I'm going to have to try something new, as they seem to be getting worse.....

I know how you feel. I had a headache from Mon til today, and it makes me sick too.
I get them all the time.

Kaytee, I so feel for you. I hate it when I get the migraines like this....the light, noise, everything seems to just make them worse....forget sitting up, as I feel like i'm going to be so sick...and there just aren't enough ice packs to help....I hope you can get some relief for yours...and hope you are feeling better now....hugs

My sister, Deb and I both suffer with these. She gets them more frequently like once a month where she is in bed for a couple of days. She gets sick and all. She uses Immatrex (sp?) and has it in both pill and shot form.

I get them sporadically and not so severe. I use Relpax. I say I get them severe enough to get sick twice a year.

Sure wish there was something to deter them altogether! Hope you are feeling better!

I hate it when I get them....they are so debilitating...and I feel like I just want to rip my head off to get rid of the pain. I think I will talk to my doctor about the meds that Kelly uses, and see if they are in the VA hospitals formulary...

I can sympathize. I get migraines too. I was getting about 4 a week until my neuro put me on Topamax...now they're much less frequent & less severe. I did actually have one today though. I felt it coming on all day & kept trying to ignore it even though I know better. I hope you fell better soon. I'm sure you feel wiped out right now.

Cause it seems like over the counter meds is just not getting rid of my headaches, They last for days.

OTC meds never did anything for me either. No matter what, they just got worse & would make me so sick. The Topamax cuts down on the frequency of them. You have to take it every day but instead of having several a week, now I only get a couple a month & they're not nearly as severe as they used to be. When I do get one, I take Maxalt & that usually takes care of it right away.

I'm going to have to talk to my doctor about this....as I seem to have several a week as well. Thanks for the info Kelly!!!

I haven't tried Topomax yet....I've been on either Imitrex or Zomig.....they usually help, but sometimes like this one, I had to take 2 before it subsided any at all....i'm so sorry you get them too.

I take the Topamax daily & it has really decreased the frequency of them. I take Maxalt when I do get one & usually it only takes 1 pill now. I tried several meds before finding the right combination. Migraines are just miserable. I hope you're feeling better today.

Yes, I am feeling better, as I just have a headache, but not a migraine. At least I can function with a headache....I just hope my doc can find these in the pharmacy formulary, as they seem to be a bit behind on some of the newer meds...
