I just watched this movie today. I had read the book about a year or so ago and was really looking forward to the movie. It was definitely a great adaptation, and I cried my eyes out at the end. I had such an urge to go up to our family dog Pepper, who is a week shy from turning 15 years old, and getting to be on her last legs. I give her a hug and kiss. Told her how much I loved her and that I hope she stays with us a lot longer. She too was a handful in life, but she's been such a great dog, and we've been blessed to have her all these years.
