Vet Invoice for Surgeries, Diagnostic Tests, & Treatment for Show & Tell

This is Teddy's invoice when he had to go in & have everything done. He was neutered & all cancerous tissue removed, had surgery on his ear to repair an aural hematoma, & had 5 teeth removed & the others cleaned. They thoroughly examined his eyes since he has corneal ulcerations & partial blindness. They did bloodwork & chipped him, as well as bathed & shaved him, & gave him several meds.

you have to give him 14 pills? good luck! I honestly thought the bill would be worse. Great job for the boy.

HAD to...2 a day. We just put them in his food & he gobbled them right down. He never notices. Now he takes thyroid meds every day & we do the same thing. Works like a charm.

TEDDY IS VERY LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH A CARING OWNER, AND ONE THAT CAN AFFORD TO DO IT. SOME PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THAT OWNING AN ANIMAL AND THE EXPENSE OF IT IS THE SAME AS IF CARING FOR YOU CHILDREN.

Teddy was a rescue & was in really bad shape, as you can tell. He'd spent his first 10 or so years in hell, I was going to do everything I could to give him the life he deserved.

Wow! You must have a great vet! It is a lot of money...but Teddy had a lot done. You got a smokin deal on the dental work! Teddy is a lucky boy to have you. :)

We have an awesome vet...he takes such good care of our babies & cares so much! It is a lot of money, but those things hopefully don't come along every day. You never know what's going to happen with those rescues. Its worth it to me to give him the life & the health he deserves.

That is a wonderful price.. my vet works with people and has helped me so much with my fosters. Mojo would have cost me twice as much with anyone else. Same with Rennie he did his heartworm treatment for 40% of what everyone else was quoting.

My vet is always well under everybody else's price too. Not to mention he's always there when we need him, day or night. He doesn't even care if we call in the middle of the night or on weekends. He'll meet us at his office whenever we need him. That's a lot of service for the price.

For all that Teddy had done, I think the bill is pretty cheap. Dental cleanings and extractions are expensive here since require general anesthesia. The neuter charge for that size dog almost seems cheap to me. Was any pathology lab work done on the cancerous testicular tissue, or it was just removed?

I will post Marigold's spay invoice. If I had elected to get pre-anesthesia blood work done, that would have added to the cost. I opted to do the laser surgery which added $50, and Marigold still licked at her incision site and got it infected. I brought her back twice for the vet to look at her incision site. I felt for that price, he could see he as often as I wanted him to.

I thought it was really reasonable considering all that they did. Teddy was in really bad shape when we found him. My mom does cat rescue & can't get a cat neutered for under $200 where she lives. He checked the tissue in his office when they removed it to be sure they had clean boundaries, but they didn't send it off.

Teddy's ear got infected after the surgery to repair the hematoma because he managed to find a way to scratch it when the splint started bothering him. We took him back & they had to sedate him, drain it & clean it up. Then they put him in another E-collar, gave him an anti-inflammatory/antibiotic injection & sent him home with antibiotics & didn't charge us anything.

We were kind of expecting it since Teddy wasn't in good shape when we found him. They kept calling us & keeping us updated & asking us if we were sure we wanted to continue. He deserves to be healthy & happy for however long he's here & that's what we promised him.

I've never had a vet bill this expensive in one sitting - and my fingers are crossed I never do! =)
Is that $60.00 for a bath and nail clip?
Goes to show we love them - and I'm glad Teddy now has the loving family he does.

That was probably our biggest one ever. We've had others, including Cass & Smokey who had to have a lot done when they were rescued, but Teddy was in a class by himself.

Teddy was extremely matted. There's a picture of his matted fur with thorny vines embedded in it in my pics. I cut his fur as much as possible but he needed to be completely shaved due to the poor condition of his skin. So the $60 is for shaving & bathing him & trimming him claws.

He had testicular cancer so they had to be really thorough. And around here that price is cheap for a regular neuter. Most vets charge close to $200.
