Vet Bill for Show & Tell

This is Bailey's first vet bill. Of course we didn't know her medical history since she didn't have any tags, so we took her in to get checked out, get her vaccinations & a heartworm test. Our vet doesn't charge an office visit for annual checkups & vaccinations. When he does charge an office visit, its $10 for follow ups & ongoing problems like Smokey's EG & $36 for new issues.

My vet has a different office visit rate for wellness/yearly exam ($33.50 for feline; used to be $30 when he first opened his clinic in 2006) and illness/acute/injury/accident ($43.50 for feline). He keeps certain time slots open for acute illness or injury so that you can usually get in the same day that you call. I usually pick his brain for any other problem that I may be having with cats in the household once I have him "captive".

We always get in on the same day because our vet doesn't take appointments. You sound like me...once I have him there, I usually have all kinds of questions.

Does this mean you just show up and wait like in an urgent clinic? Or do you call first and then he tells you when you can come? From a scheduling standpoint, I don't see how this would work. Most vets do surgeries (spays/neuters) only certain days of the week like Tues-Thurs. What are his hours?

That sounds very reasonable.

I think so too. His prices are much lower than any other vet in the area.

I have never had a vet bill that small. Even the same tests are a lot more than that here.

We're lucky. Not only does he keep his prices down but he is also one of the most caring vets I've ever met. He's met us at his office in the middle of the night & on weekends and he calls to check on our sick ones even on the holidays.

Mine doesn't charge an office visit for that either. But he sure makes up with it w/ his
costs compared to yours.
DHLPPCV $29.78
Heat worm test 26.14
Rabies 11.43.
I did just moved to a better and cheaper vet.
But haven't had yearly done there yet.

Well, your rabies shot was a few cents cheaper! :-)
Our vet is really great. The only way we could see him more often is if we moved in with him! lol He & his staff are always laughing at us because we're there so often & we're always bringing in a new animal.

He never charges an OV when you go in for vaccinations even though he spends a lot of time with them & gives them a physical & treats whatever he may find.
