Just wanted to bring everyone up to speed on what's going on at the shelter.

On a personal note, the night before I left for Orlando Faith was euthanized. She let me know in no uncertain terms that it was time. Since Faith was accustomed to me sticking her with needles as a result or her diabetes, I chose to perform the in injection myself. I told her how much I loved her and what joy she had added to my life. She then licked my face. The usual routine started: I told her she'd feel and stick and that was it. She immediately went to sleep. I wanted to be anyone but me at that moment.

Since returning from New York and making a feeble attempt at some form of normalcy, life at the shelter is great! We have formed an awsome Spay Neuter Committee as well as a brand spanking new Volunteer Committee, donations are up and we have many new people offering to head up an array of fund raisers.

On a sad note, heartbreaking to be exact, our long time resident Toby passed away this week. It has been very difficult for all of us here at the shelter because we loved him so.

Until next time..............

Cheryl

So sorry for all your losses. You are a strong person and did right by your babies. You gave them love, respect and devotion of an owner until the end. I admire you.

What a tough thing to have to do. I have always insisted that people should be there if it becomes necessary to put a pet down. I worked for a vet when I was younger and always felt terrible when the last face they see is that of a stranger. I give you a lot of credit though not only for being there, but for giving the injection yourself. It was so kind of you considering that Faith was already used to you giving her injections. You are a strong person! I'm also sorry to hear of Toby's loss as well.

Thanks for you support and condolences. Faith had added so much to my life I owed it to her to make her final moments as peaceful and stress free as possible.
