Just wanted to bring everyone up to speed on what's going on at the shelter.
On a personal note, the night before I left for Orlando Faith was euthanized. She let me know in no uncertain terms that it was time. Since Faith was accustomed to me sticking her with needles as a result or her diabetes, I chose to perform the in injection myself. I told her how much I loved her and what joy she had added to my life. She then licked my face. The usual routine started: I told her she'd feel and stick and that was it. She immediately went to sleep. I wanted to be anyone but me at that moment.
Since returning from New York and making a feeble attempt at some form of normalcy, life at the shelter is great! We have formed an awsome Spay Neuter Committee as well as a brand spanking new Volunteer Committee, donations are up and we have many new people offering to head up an array of fund raisers.
On a sad note, heartbreaking to be exact, our long time resident Toby passed away this week. It has been very difficult for all of us here at the shelter because we loved him so.
Until next time..............
