To Delete or Not to Delete NOW that is the question????

I was asked tonight if since her pet had died should she delete his profile from her page. This is my opinion totally open for discussion on this by the way. But I just can't bring myself to take Little Bear off my profile. I think I have made it pretty clear in my pictures, info and statements that he is no longer with me so I don't think I am deceiving or hiding anything. I don't think it matters to anyone else if he has passed on, only to me and our family. I assumed he wouldn't even be entered in the PET WARS, which I also am not that fond of, again my opinion. But I told this young lady not to delete her pet, to do so only when she felt comfortable with it. So I guess my question is Do I or Don't I leave Bear on my pets list?

I sent something out to my email horselover/animal lover lists and just realized that it might be something ZooTooers might also enjoy. It's about Smoke, my fine wine (aged) grey Arabian gelding that died in March 1990. Read more (and see photos) here: http://westinstenv.org For those that have ever had (or have) that once-in-a-lifetime horse, you'll understand totally. Smoke was the equine version of Wiggles Blue Heeler. We could never delete, for they have left hoofprints and paw prints on and in our hearts!

I agree with everyone. Don't delete his picture unless you want to. I have been wanting to put pictures of my furkids that have passed away. But not sure how to do it. I like the idea of a memorium page or section. I may use the RIP notation till they add it for us. At the end of the day they're in our hearts and are part of who we are. I love and am very proud of all my furkids, present and past. I still tell stories about Loki my first doggie. He's been gone 8 years, I have his picture in my office. Why not on my ZooToo page.

I agree with everyone else--you should NOT delete the profile (or do not until and unless you are ready).

Zootoo should realize how important our pets--past and present--are to us. Zootoo should, therefore, actually add an "In Memorium" Section. It would be somewhat better if those over the "Rainbow Bridge" but with us in spirit and in our hearts could be kept separate from those still alive. (And, of course, the "In Memorium" pets would be excluded from "Pet Wars".)

Can't wait to read it..............it's really going to help alot of us. Thanks so much.

God forbid the day when Wiggles Blue Heeler slips his earthly bounds (or I do, if it's not at the exact same moment). Me without him would be like taking a photo of a deer gutpile: few would know that it used to be a deer. Our beloved pets are ALWAYS in our hearts. We keep them there, no matter what. Let's never remove their photos or journals about them.

Leave him there!!!! You're not cheating, you're telling your story. He'll be in your heart forever. There's no reason he shouldn't be on zootoo as well.

I put a photo of my Sammie up even tho he's been gone for 8 years. I want people to know that he's an important part of my life. And I'm putting up photos of my fosters who have been adopted too. They're all such valiant little survivors they deserve to have their little stories told.

So sorry for your loss.

I would leave him up there on your profile. He was and in some ways still part of your life. I know should something happen to one of my furkids, I would never delete their picture.

Please keep Little Bear here. I didn't have a photo of my Duncan(on this site) when he passed away. As soon as I am able to add photos, I'll be posting his. He'll always be a part of me. I was sick to my stomach when I deleted his name.

You know what.....your journal entry and comments gave me the idea to put Duncan's name back up on my page. I feel better.......thanks...

Good on you!!!

I would definatley leave Bear on your pets list. He was, and still is dear to your heart. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope that you may find comfort in your memories.

NEVER DELETE AN ANIMAL THAT HAS BEEN PART OF YOUR LIFE. A PET THAT YOU LOVED AND CARED FOR. THAT ANIMAL IS STILL APART OF YOUR HEART AND PROBABLY WILL BE FOR MANY YRS. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE. I HAVE NOT HAD MY CATS FOR YRS. BUT I CAN STILL CRY THINKING OF THEM.

Both my son and I have our deceased pets in our profiles. My son put RIP next to Magnums name, and I thought "I like that idea", so I did my dog Bullet. Both dogs were already gone when we joined Zootoo. Not that you have to do that too. We just wanted people to know they were gone, but not forgotten.

if only life were that easy.... you can no more delete your friend off your page than delete him out of your heart. you have lived, loved, cried and probably even bled for your pet. the least you can allow yourself to be/feel is for him to be left in cyberspace. as far as pet wars, IMO it should be a voluntary competition, not something random chosen for you *without consent.*
peace,

Native American Prayer

I give you this one thought to keep ---
I am with you still --- I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle mountain rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone ---
I am with you still --- in each new dawn.

what a wonderful prayer! thank you for sharing it.

DON't DELETE....Does that mean you should forget your wonderful pet too? If you have pictures in your house, then why not on your computer web site? Keep the photo's on your web page and in your heart....

Please do not delete your pet. I have one of my pets that has passed, on my profile, because she was so near and dear to our family. We even have pictures of her in the house with other family members pictures. It just shows how loved (and lucky) your pet was.

Do not delete your pet off. You have been honest!

Bear needs to stay on your list! JMHO

i agree - you shouldnt delete them.. if they are in your heart they will always be your pet

He will always be your pet in your heart. Leave him where he belongs on your pet list.

Bear will always have a place in your heart and thoughts so it is fitting to leave Bear right where he is, on your pet list.

I personally don't believe you should have to delete Bear. My sister thought about putting one of hers on here, but he just passed away. If you already had Bear on your profile and Pet Wars is not an issue, then I see no problem with it. That is my opinion.
