today was different

I am mom's very favorite girl, ever
today at work started like any other, dogs, dogs dogs, I had a poodle mix on my table and cutting his hair when the cashier Maryann comes in and says that there is someone she wants me to meet, so I put the dog in a cage and go to the floor and there is a boxer boy, he has cancer and is recieving chemo. I bent down and he was a little shy at first, so i said to him, dont be scared i understand how you feel and he looked at me and took a step towards me and licked my face, the owner stood there with tears in her eyes, I hugged the boxer and the tears ran down my face, there was not a dry eye around me.when I stood up the owner asked me if she could hug me and I did.it was such a emotional moment, the woman asked how much for a bath and I told her that I will gladly do it for free, when he comes in I will give him the golden spa treatment and make him feel like the most important thing that day.when he left today I gave him a huge bag of cookies and lots of toys. all the workers gave him things to take home with him, he was a special boy and we wanted him to know that. I pray he survives his cancer, he has lymphoma.he was a special boxer boy

I agree, this is for a reason and that is because I feel different and look different and today I met some one else different, I am not alone in this, there are many others, today I connected with a boxer boy just like me, and he must know he is different and we met, and he see's people are different yet we were the same, and for a brief moment we gave each other the love that only we two can share on the level we are at at this point in our lives, it felt so good to help him feel it and for he to make me feel it. I am greatful we met.and hopefully I will see him again.

This was one of the most touching stories I have read. I would bet anything in the world if he could talk you would find that there was a strong communication. He knew what you are going through and he knew you know what he is going through. What an amazing experience for both you and him. I am sure there was not a dry eye around you and him as there is none here tonight either. I agree with others that you are a special person and that boxer is a special dog.

thank you, no everyone there was crying including me. To see the expression on his face was so heart warming, he looked so calm as I hugged him he just hung his head down and stood there, I kissed his forhead and he laid his head on the side of my face, his owner was crying. it was a moment I will never forget.

When I went to read your journal tonight I didn't have any idea I would be reading such a touching story about a dog in need. It's obvious Jessie that you have been placed on this earth to help and show love to all the dogs that are around you and that are blessed by your presence. I believe you mentioned that you have 8 dogs at home and I bet each one of them feels just a bit more loved because you are in their lives!

Jess, this is an absolutely wonderful journal. It is so touching--ok where are my tissues! This deserves Front Page. You are such a wonderful person. Just think how happy that Boxer is to have a friend like you. I know that each one of us is so thankful for your unconditional friendship. Thanks, Jess. :)

thanks, I am still crying over this dog.I cant help but still to think of him. I want him to take care of.I know how he feels and can make him feel better, when he comes in to my shop I am going to have to have my camera and get his picture, out of all this, this one is probably the one that has touched me the most.

That is so true, Jess. Little things like this help make us feel better. You did a wonderful thing for that boxer. (As you know I have a deep soft spot for boxers). You are just such a special person. :)

I really did nothing special, I did what I felt in my heart, and he needed a understanding hug from some one the same. I really felt connected to him.

You let him know that HE IS NOT ALONE! Although they can't talk back to us, Jessie, I truly believe in my heart that they understand exactly what it is we're saying to them and their body language and their facial expressions show it! It may sound corny but, I feel in my heart also that what you give you get back ten fold! Our old priest used to always discuss tithing in his sermons and I learned from him that it isn't just our treasure that we can give away, it's our time, talent, AND treasure! So, when we give from our hearts and never expect anything in return, WE, truly are the recipient and YOU, although it was a strange moment or different, really you both got something from the experience! YOU are NOT alone Jessie! We're all here for you and love you more than you will ever know my friend!

thanks, it wasnt so srtange as it was heart breaking, as I hugged him he just put his head down and I just held him for a moment. and I felt like we were the same, we felt exactly alike, I know how he hurts, where he hurts, and how I wished he was my dog, so I could take care of him, and I know his mommy loves him. I felt connected to a boxer,

Jess, you did a wonderful thing today and it was recognized by many. I am in tears right now...This is a beautiful story and yet, another indication of how receptive animals are to us and our feelings. I bet that beautiful boxer boy cannot wait to come back to see you. Hugs, my friend!
