Timothy the Blind Dog Teaches Mom a Lesson
0 comments
Timothy, my blind boy, is usually a lot smarter than his Mom. He never lets his disabilities or the bad things that life may put in his path-- like FURNITURE AND WALLS-- get him down. He just finds a way around them and keeps on smiling and wagging his tail. Sometimes his Mom needs to be reminded of such things. You can learn a lot from a blind dog!
Mom has now gotten over her depression about our shelter finishing just outside the top 20. We were at 23, but then two shelters ahead of us were disqualified, so we ended up at number 21. (We went through a week of nail-biting, as Mr. Top Cat and his staff called us several times to make back-up arrangements for a possible visit by Zootoo if we did indeed end up in the final top 20 list.) But it was not to be, and we are happy for those shelters now getting their Zootoo visits from Mr. Thompson and the makeover review team.
The great thing about ZOOTOO is that we discovered we had a lot of quiet supporters out there in the community who didn't know how to express their support. They heard about the contest on radio announcements-- THANKS SO MUCH to WCXR in particular-- and joined Zooto to support the Cecil County SPCA. One of our new volunteers, JoJo (Joanne) is organizing a fundraising car and truck show for the shelter. Several other new supporters who joined zootoo are going to volunteer to help at the shelter.
So, as usual, Timothy is right. There is a silver lining to every cloud. Even if you are blind and cannot see the cloud. Maybe that's the secret: don't look at the clouds at all and remember the warmth of the sunshine behind the clouds.
