the wayward Beagle

Last Friday a girlfriend and I were going out to dinner. It was rush-hour in Tucson...4 lane divided street. Cars ahead were braking and serving. We saw a portly Beagle strolling across all 4 lanes. Another gal stopped her car in a driveway and held her, as she was trying to go back across. We turned around and managed to get her to jump into our car. no tags, but she was obviously someone's pet..took her home for the night and called the Humane Soc. in the a.m. No report of a lost dog.( My 14 yr. old cat was NOT amused sharing the house with a dog). I paid the $25 and turned her in. The next day, I saw a poster with a photo of her on a pole and called . Left a message so they could pick her up..hopefully,in the future they will put on her tags and get her micro-chipped . All my critters have this ..no matter how responsible an owner is, accidents happen and we need to protect our pets..
