Strange idea

I'm going to post this as a question, but just have to put it in a journal in case more people running shelters see it. Why do some shelters limit donation times? I have been trying to get donations to a shelter near me, but they are only accepting them from 10a-2pm 5 days a week. That may seem like a lot of donation time, but I live 15 miles away and work so the hours combined with my days off and their closed days didnt work out so great. I can understand not accepting donations on the days you are closed, but why limit them during the days and hours you are open? All you need is someone to say thank you please put them there, do you need a tax form and thank you again. I dont see why there wouldnt be ANY time that a shelter wouldnt be happy to have someone drop something off. They might be heading to the store and see the shelter and have a warm fuzzy day and decide to buy something only to get to the shelter and see the "donation times" and decide to drive on. Why would you limit yourself?
