Smitty is in the hospital

Well, it has been quite busy the past couple days. Poor Smitty is sick, he has been hissing and crying off and on. Sometimes he acted fine like there was nothing wrong then other times he would hiss if you even looked at him. I took him to the vet last night and one press on his abdomen told the vet he needed surgery NOW! I gave him a quick kiss and assured him Mommy loves him and he was gone. I could hear him screaming all the way down the hall. He had a blocked bladder. I remember as a child our cat had to have surgery for this, Moe was made into a "girl" to help him out. I am assured Smitty is doing well and will not require that type of alteration, he will however have to be on special cat food the rest of his life. He will not be coming home until Monday afternoon. His catheter comes out tomorrow and he needs to be monitored for a couple days to make sure he does not re-block. This poor cat, he probably thinks we abandoned him. Oscar is really lost without his brother. He has looked all over the house for him, even checking the cat carrier he seen him leave in. Oscar was so upset last night he slept in bed with Joe and I, right by our heads.
On another note, we adopted Ditto yesterday. She is such a lovable kitty. She was spayed yesterday and came home right after I dropped Smitty off at the vets office. Ditto got her name because she looks so much like a cat we had a couple years ago. So Michael felt Ditto was a fitting name. When you have the number of animals that we have names become difficult to come up with so we use names that fit the animals or the situation. Such as Marysville is a horse that my husband bought in Marysville. Wild Thing is a deer that is WILD....Okay, well I better get my motorcycle test done for the safety course tomorrow that I will be taking after I deliver a mail route.

Glad to hear that Smitty was doing OK, was going to call on you Monday, But the journal entry answered my questions.

You are going to drive a motorcycle?

Yes, I am going to ride a motorcycle. I went through the safety course this past weekend. Wed. from 6-10, Sat from 2-8:15, and Sun from 1:30-8:15 in the pouring rain. I passed with no problems. I had never ridden a motorcycle before Saturday, and had no idea how to operate one. I learned quickly and actually made it in third gear. I have a 750 Honda, that I have not ridden yet, it may be too big. I learned on a 250. It will be interesting I am sure.

Did you pass? How'd it go?

I just seen the question you posted about, did I pass. Yes, I passed. It was a real ball taking the course. I would recommend it to anyone interested in riding motorcycles or scooters. The state even puts on an experienced rider course. I would say it is worth the $25 entry fee. I have been riding my bike to work, I like the country roads and town streets. I still am not the most comfortable with highways, I need to get used to the wind and drafts from other passing vehicles. It is fun though.

I hope Smitty is okay. I am sure he will be made over completely when he gets home. And as a welcome home gift, a sister.

As for names, try not using the same time in the same year for the animals at the shelter. Now that is hard.

Smitty is doing well. Thanks for asking. I am sure it is very difficult to come up with names to fit animals as frequently as you have to. You could pick a theme each month, like rock stars in January, Country stars in February,...so you would know when they came in by their name.

Hey, I like this!!! Will have to tell the girls about, they'll have fun choosing themes.
