Sleep won't come tonight

Tomorrow morning three shelters will learn the fruits of their labors. Whatever the outcome, we all have accomplished so much for our individual community shelters and Zootoo as a whole has caused so much attention to be paid to the shelters and rescues across America. That in itself is a prize worth millions. Thank you Zootoo for the opportunity, the forum, and the spotlight you have put on the needs of all the abandoned and abused animals. There were shelters that needed not a physical makeover but perhaps makeover of involvement from the community. This contest surely accomplished that. Some cities or counties offer more financial support than others. Some shelters had a safer more up to date facility than others. Some shelters had more sizable communities from which to draw volunteers. Some like those in the areas of recent disasters had very little of anything to draw upon. What we all gained from Zootoo was a galvanizing spirit for all of us. We were reminded that together we can accomplish so much if we keep a goal in front of us. I hope that is something that NONE of us forget.
We at the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley feel so blessed to have been placed in the top 3. Whatever happens, this contest has proven that we can do so much more together than separately. We can rally the troops and tackle whatever goal comes before us and we will continue with that attitude. Good luck to our fellow finalists. We know that you wish us the same. We also know that each of us hopes quietly that we are the luckiest (grin). The whole USA will be watching tomorrow and before the confeti starts flying, know the most important winners will be the animals we all want to protect, help, and love.
Now I am going to go toss and turn and wait for the morning.
