My husband had been wanting a Rottie for some time. It was just a matter of time & $. I called home 1 day from my 2nd job, and lone behold he had news! He had found an ad in the local paper saying found lost Rottie come claim her or adopt her if nobody claims her. So of course my husband Bert was the 1 to call. Nobody ever called to claim her. This nice old lady had her as she was playing in traffic in Goshen. A phone worker spotted her stopping traffic on a busy road & got her out of the road, than went back up the phone pole working. Not to long later the Rottie was back in the road stopping cars again. Finally the old lady that living right there took her in her house. She kept her downstairs. As she was older the lady could not take her up & down the stairs, so the yound female Rottie was pottying on the cement in the basement. The older lady had cats upstairs & her hips weren't great. She knew she was not going to be able to take care of this yound dog long. So she put out the found ad. Than she put out the please adopt ad. My husband on a wim went to see the old lady & the yound Rottie. That is what the phone call was about. I wasn't against getting a dog. We already had a cat & lived in the country with lots of acres. It was just the fact that I didn't get to go with him to meet the dog or pick out the pup with him. I understand now, it was kind of like this poor pup needed to find a good home quick! So my husband brought her, her leash, dog food all that the lady gave him with no charge. Home to our farm house. I got all this news over the phone @ my 2nd job. My close friend Gwen who was working w/ me & had 2 Rotties of her own was there when I got the news. I was mad I was left out of the whole decision. I was expecting a puppy when I got home. Good lord the Rottie wasn't a pup it was a dog size pup already! I was shocked how big this puppy was for how old she was! The old lady named her Sasha & we both felt that was a great name so we kept it. Sasha now is 135# so looking back to when we first got her, yeah she was a puppy when we got her, albeight a very large puppy. We love her very much. That is how we got Sasha. I kind of think our animals choose us! Even though Bert had been wanting a Rottie, we never wouldv'e gone to a pet store or breeder to get one.
