Wow, what a way to start my day! I don't think I'll ever be the calm person I used to be! I went to feed Max and Spike this morning and they escaped from the pasture. I had pulled the wheelbarrow through the gate and placed it in front of Maxs' stall and before my hand left the handles Max blew by me and ran out the gate with Spike on his tail. They were bucking and kicking wildly running all over the neighborhood after they had already ran and rolled in the dry swamp and all over our land outside the pasture. They crossed the highway and kept going! I was following with the grain bucket and totally panicked. I called my husband home from work, my brother in law who lives 4 miles away and my son who I could not reach. During this time the neighbors came out with lead ropes and another grabbed carrott tops out of his garden and offered to Max. Finally, they were captured! The neighbor led Max back home for me and I followed with Spike in tow. My heart is still pounding wildly several hours later! We live in the country but in a residential neighborhood. I hope no damage was done. I haven't heard from anyone yet. The ground is dry so no hoof prints in the lawns. When they crossed the highway I could see the law suits happening. My rattled nerves sucked the life right out of me. I'm wondering if I'll ever be the same!
