Little Bit Died This Morning
6 comments
My little buddy of 16 years died this morning. I had noticed that her health had been declining over the past few months. I wish that there could have been something that I could have done to restore her to a healthier moment in her life. There is no veterinarian or medicine that can turn back the hands of time. There comes a time in every living creature's life when the end must come.
I can still remember the day I brought Little Bit home. She was given to me by a co-worker who discovered that he was allergic to cats when his daughter brought home a new kitten. He needed to find a home for the kitten and quickly.
I really wasn't prepared to bring home a kitten. I didn't have my pet carrier or even a box to put her in for the ride home. As it turned out, I shouldn't have worried about it. Little Bit decided that she would ride on my lap while I drove.
Little Bit was a vocal cat. It was almost like she always had to have the last word. She had a lot of emotion in her voice. She would make chirping noises if I cried, scold me sternly if I disturbed her nap, or meow excitedly to encourage me to hurry up with her dinner.
She was a small cat and was often picked on by some of our other larger cats. She would make it a point to stay close to either my husband or myself. The other cats wouldn't bother her when her human protectors were near.
Little Bit was one of 12 cats that moved with us from California to Missouri eleven years ago. Now the only California cat that we have left is Desiree. The cats made the move in a motor home driven by my husband.
Little Bit was fortunate in that she always had a loving home and people to love and care for her. In turn, she gave her people her love and companionship for all the years of her life. There is an incredible void in my heart now that she is gone.

Your description brings to mind Jordan, our own cat who passed away in 2005. She too moved with us, via motor home, from California. A more loving and generous cat than her I've yet to meet. Zaphod, our new boy cat, is very different - so independent and punchy. So much variety under the sun.
