Kitty-Kitty Love

Otter Sea Star and Squeaker
Otter Sea Star's getting her nightly facial from her boyfriend, Squeaker. Otter Sea Star was my foster kitten in August 2005. I took her in as I was missing my former foster who had been recently adopted! Otter was a survivor; a few of her siblings had died. Otter had been found in another town, without a mom, and brough to the Santa Cruz SPCA.
One day, while leaving the SPCA after a CAT TLC shift, I noticed her quietly perched on a cat tree. I asked the director about her and said that I'd like to foster her when I returned in a week from my vacation. I thought about her that whole week.
Otter turned out to be a sickly little girl. She had a lousy case of URI which got better - almost. I took her to the vet after her second round of antibiotics. A nose culture was taken and it was discovered that Otter had contracted a rare canine kennel cough during her stay at the SPCA. (An infected dog was at the SPCA just 2 days; enough time to infect little Otter.) Poor baby. Since I was sure she had been getting better, I'd committed the ultimate foster mom no-no and let Otter join MY cats. As a result, my two cats also came down w/ the infection, as well as a neighbor's cat who frequently visited. All four cats had to be quarintined nearly 3 1/2 weeks. They WERE NOT happy!
Otter and Squeaker developed a love-love relationship. Squeaker became her mama, even though Squeaker's a boy. he's a loving cat. He licked her nose clean every day and groomed her fur, especially her face. I referred to it as "her nightly facial."
I fostered Otter nearly 3 months. Of course, I, as well as Squeaker, had fallen totally in love with her. Her name became Otter Sea Star since I live next to the Pacific Ocean.
Squeaker, as I type, is licking the right side of Otter's face. She's getting "her nightly facial!" They are two peas in a pod. No matter she's semi-feral; don't ask me how this happened. She used to beg to be loved on and carried around the house. Now, I'm lucky if I can hold her for 5 seconds. She will, however, let me kiss all over her and pet her AS LONG AS she's half plastered to the couch.
That's the story of my Otter Sea Star.
Here's a photo of he two lovebirds.
