It's All About the Animals

Over and over again on Zootoo, I hear the same phrase "It's all about the animals." If it's all about the animals, it's about the animals all over, isn't it?

Is it sacrilegious to suggest distributing 1,000 pounds of pet food to 1,000 shelters instead of 1,000,000 pounds to a now minimum of six shelters? This pet food wasn't awarded as a result of some contest, after all. It appears to be a gift, generated by newly registered Zootoo users.

If you were a manager of one of those handful of shelters, would you mind donating part of your 166,666+ pounds to help just-as-needy animals in shelters outside of your area?

I'm not a shelter manager, so maybe it's shocking to even suggest this. If so, please forgive me for my offending words. I don't know better. Enlighten me.

You guys are all just amazing. Always thinking of Bobbi and the Strays. No matter what - there sure is a lot of positive energy out there. We can feel the love! : - )

Hmmmm.... Okay. What if those St. Louis shelters agreed to share their windfall of food with Bobbi and the Strays?

Any supporters from the six St. Louis shelters out there? If so, what do you think of that idea?

Again, I don't know if that's an incredibly terrible or naive idea. What are your thoughts?

Why don't we write to Randy Grimm and ask whether or not he would be willing to donate a portion of that free food to Bobbi & the Strays? I have a feeling he would! Maybe he can also try to convince the other shelters in his city to do the same?

Anyone have Randy as a Zootoo friend? A friend's approach is always the best, don't you think? However, this affects the other St. Louis shelters. Does anyone know who they are?

Randy is a ZooToo friend of mine, and we've sent a couple of e-mails back and forth. Anyone else have him as a ZooToo friend? Hmmm...

hymcheng, would you feel comfortable in sending an email to Randy? Maybe just pointing him in our direction? ;-)

Speaking of free food, I actually never 'cashed' in on the free samples that I should have received..... as a Zoomaster with over 50,000 points, that's a lot of free samples. I would LOVE if ZooToo donated my samples to Bobbi & the Strays. In fact, I wonder if other ZooTooers are interested in donating their free samples to Bobbi as well?

Another good idea, hymcheng. Changing the address does work. I just donated the Dick Van Patten's vegetarian dog food to Bobbi and the Strays. However, I receive an error every time I select "see all pet samples." (I, too, have over 50K points and have received only two samples. I don't have fish and Roz is allergic to all grains.)

Thanks, Cassie3! I tried it out as well and it did work. I requested the 1 dog food sample and 2 dog treat samples for Bobbi & the Strays. A lot of the samples are out-of-stock, so I'll check in periodically and request more as I they become available.

Excellent idea!!

That's a very thoughtful thing to consider.

I wonder if getting samples sent to Bobbi would be as simple as changing the shipping address after you've requested a sample. That would seem to be the easiest way to accomplish it and then you have the freedom to revise the address if there's something you really would like to try for your own pet.

Any packages that need to be sent to a physical address as opposed to a P.O. Box may be sent to:

Bobbi and the Strays
71-03 80th Street
Glendale, NY 11385

718-326-6070

Thank you for coming up with yet another great idea!

Hi Susan,

Thanks for the address! I'll request a sample tonight and see if changing the address works. Is there anything in particular that Bobbi & the Strays would like to have from the products list? Let me know!

Mary

Dear Mary,

We have cats, dogs and kittens, so anything that they would be able to use or eat would be a big help. Sometimes the animals have very touchy digestive systems and having samples of different foods might help us to make them more comfortable.

When a homeless animal arrives, you don't know what their allergies may be. Being given the opportunity to find out by using samples saves having to buy large bags of expensive food that may not solve the problem.

Thanks again!

Susan

Great suggestion!

Wow, your brain is on "high speed" today................great idea!

Excellent idea!

I'd like to know just how large those lucky shelters are. Even if a million pounds is split (at least) six ways, that's an awful lot of food. I would imagine it was a couple of years' worth of food for each of them.

Every shelter's budget is stretched to the max because of the increasing cost of everything and they could all certainly benefit from some assistance.

I don't know where Pedigree is located. Is it that their plant is in or near St. Louis? Is that why those shelters are the lucky recipients?

Last year I found out that another major dog food producer will only consider requests for donations from shelters in their immediate area. That doesn't help us at all.

What we need are for the dog and cat food companies to distribute free product coupons to the shelters across the country. That eliminates the logistics problem. They can pick up what they need, when they need it, eliminating a major storage problem along the way and guaranteeing that the food will be fresh when needed.

If they were to look at if from a marketing standpoint, they could think about this...

When a person adopts a dog or cat from a shelter, they want to know what it's been eating so that they can give it the same food. Is it your product that you want recommended, or someone else's?

A little generosity today can generate a lot of customer loyalty tomorrow.

I'm in total agreement with both DeeDee and hymcheng... There are many shelters that are in need, but, Bobbi and the Strays are in despaerate need, now! Zootooers are trying desperately to raise money for a new shelter, for them. If we could get someone to donate food and other items that are necessary for daily care and survival, then, 100% of the money raised can go toward the building fund...
Please Keep helping.. GO TEAM ZOOTOO!!!!

What a blessing that would be.

I agree with you, Cassie3. It would be fantastic to share this gift with other shelters that are just as needy, if not more so. In fact, I wanted to suggest to ZooToo that they should donate some of that free food to Bobbi & the Strays, which is in dire straits at the moment. They really need to save every penny they have towards purchase of a new shelter by the end of the year, or homelessness it is for them. If they didn't have to spend as much of their budget on food, they can re-direct that money to their building fund. So, what do you say, ZooToo? While every shelter is needy, time is running out for Bobbi & the Strays and that makes them perhaps the neediest of all. Maybe you can help them in this regard???
