It's All About the Animals
24 comments
Over and over again on Zootoo, I hear the same phrase "It's all about the animals." If it's all about the animals, it's about the animals all over, isn't it?
Is it sacrilegious to suggest distributing 1,000 pounds of pet food to 1,000 shelters instead of 1,000,000 pounds to a now minimum of six shelters? This pet food wasn't awarded as a result of some contest, after all. It appears to be a gift, generated by newly registered Zootoo users.
If you were a manager of one of those handful of shelters, would you mind donating part of your 166,666+ pounds to help just-as-needy animals in shelters outside of your area?
I'm not a shelter manager, so maybe it's shocking to even suggest this. If so, please forgive me for my offending words. I don't know better. Enlighten me.

Any supporters from the six St. Louis shelters out there? If so, what do you think of that idea?
Again, I don't know if that's an incredibly terrible or naive idea. What are your thoughts?

I wonder if getting samples sent to Bobbi would be as simple as changing the shipping address after you've requested a sample. That would seem to be the easiest way to accomplish it and then you have the freedom to revise the address if there's something you really would like to try for your own pet.
Any packages that need to be sent to a physical address as opposed to a P.O. Box may be sent to:
Bobbi and the Strays
71-03 80th Street
Glendale, NY 11385
718-326-6070
Thank you for coming up with yet another great idea!

Thanks for the address! I'll request a sample tonight and see if changing the address works. Is there anything in particular that Bobbi & the Strays would like to have from the products list? Let me know!

We have cats, dogs and kittens, so anything that they would be able to use or eat would be a big help. Sometimes the animals have very touchy digestive systems and having samples of different foods might help us to make them more comfortable.
When a homeless animal arrives, you don't know what their allergies may be. Being given the opportunity to find out by using samples saves having to buy large bags of expensive food that may not solve the problem.
Thanks again!

Every shelter's budget is stretched to the max because of the increasing cost of everything and they could all certainly benefit from some assistance.
I don't know where Pedigree is located. Is it that their plant is in or near St. Louis? Is that why those shelters are the lucky recipients?
Last year I found out that another major dog food producer will only consider requests for donations from shelters in their immediate area. That doesn't help us at all.
What we need are for the dog and cat food companies to distribute free product coupons to the shelters across the country. That eliminates the logistics problem. They can pick up what they need, when they need it, eliminating a major storage problem along the way and guaranteeing that the food will be fresh when needed.
If they were to look at if from a marketing standpoint, they could think about this...
When a person adopts a dog or cat from a shelter, they want to know what it's been eating so that they can give it the same food. Is it your product that you want recommended, or someone else's?
A little generosity today can generate a lot of customer loyalty tomorrow.
