I Can't Follow My Own Advice

In several journals that I have read, friends have mentioned that they didn't have a camera with them so they missed an opportunity for a good picture. I have always said, "don't leave home with out your camera". Well, I did.

Yesterday, I went to Livingston to buy dog food at Tractor Supply. I left my camera next to the computer. Didn't put it in my purse like I normally do. Was that a problem? YES.

Yesterday at Tractor Supply, they had rescue horses. I missed some good pictures. I know - don't leave home without a camera. I met the sweetest horse - Smokey. He was rescued a year ago, near death. How anyone could abuse or ignore this guy is unimaginable. He was a snuggle bunny. He seemed to like putting his head over my shoulder. He's also a pickpocket. Put a treat in your pants pocket or shirt pocket and he will work it out with his lips. What a resourceful guy. He soaked up all of the love and attention he could get, but he also let you know how much he appreciated it and gave it right back. I could kick myself for not having my camera. I did miss getting some nice shots.

I know what you mean - I still miss shots because my camera is sitting at home or even if I walk out back with the dogs without it. Smokey sounds like a great horse. It is great that he was rescued and it healthy again.

If my lifestyle would allow a horse, I think Smokey would have found a new home. I can't take a horse back and forth every few months between Texas and Illinois. Also, no place in Illinois to put a horse.

Who would have thought I would need a camera at Tractor Supply? Besides that, I really did forget it. I didn't leave it at home on purpose.

I love horses, too. As a kid and teenager, I always wanted one. I don't know how anyone could abuse or neglect an animal either. And yes, Smokey seems to be very happy. I'm so glad this organization was able to obtain him and nurse him back to health.
