Happy ending for wv puppy mill dog

I ran into Stacy Hallock from the Parkersburg Humane Society today and she said I needed to post to zootoo about the success I am having with my wonderful little Jack Russell rescue from the 1000 dog WV rescue. So Stacy here it is. My little buddy picked me as her forever mom when I pulled her out of the transport crate that Sunday morning. While the other two Jacks were bouncing off the walls, she just wanted someone to hold her and make it safe. That happened to be me. From that moment on, I knew in my heart that this little gal was going to be my dog, some way, some how. For the rest of the day, I checked on her perodically and made sure she got more love. Then because I had to work the next few days, I stopped by morning and night. Newspapers got folded, cages got cleaned, and whatever needed done but I made sure I checked on her.
She's been with me now 2 weeks and what a different little gal she is. The constant shaking and shivering is now replaced by a happy wagging little stump of a tail and two perky little ears. She follows me every where and has learned so much. We have learned about walking on grass, running on grass, climbing the stairs, coming down the stairs (my knees still hurt from that long lesson.) She is on a regular feeding schedule which in turn means regular potty trips to the outdoors. She now has a new dog brother in my 13 yr old cocker. She loves trips in the car and goes to work with me everyday. If I pick up her leash, she bounces right to me and can't wait to see what adventure we are going on. Playing with toys is still a foreign concept to her so reports that the puppy mill owner had regularly provided them with toys is just plain wrong. I figure that play is something that will take a little longer than some of the other stuff has. She did discover the doggie door to the fenced back yard but isn't really sure what to do when she gets out there. I can't wait til she discovers snow this winter. One thing for sure, she knows she is loved by me and never lets me get to far from her sight. Knowing how antmated and full of energy that Jack Russells typically are, I can see first hand how being in that small cage with 2 other dogs has stifled her personality. It's a challenge that I am up to and with all the love I can give her, I hope that while well behaved, she will become that lively little clown that most JR's are. However she progresses is just fine with me as long as she knows she is loved and feels safe from harm and harsh treatment. My prayer is that each of the 1000 that we rescued should find the right family to give them the love they need.

Thanks for the update on Ginny. It's good to hear how all these babies are doing. Thank you for all your help and for giving Ginny a wonderful forever home.

Heavens I almost forgot, she has a name now too. Since she was rescued from West Virginia and almost went to the rescue group from Virginia , I named her Ginny.
