Dogs sensing earthquakes

They say the dogs can sense earthquakes and i dont no whether to belive it or not. I have a pittbull who sleeps in the bed sometimes. She will usually get down but lastnight before the earthquake hit i could not get her off the bed for nothing, so she slept up there all night. I had stuff fall off my shelfs and she would normally go check it out and didn't i could not get her to get off the bed for nothing until about noon she finally decided to come down. My miniture sheltie just paced the floor after it happened. But i also have a bird she did not like it all she was flying all around her cage and running down on the bottom. She's a really good bird but when you first get her out she usually will peck at your hand a little but she didn't she got right on my hand and didn't fly to the blinds like she usally does. I thought it was neat to see how the animals react and was hoping to find on her how other animals handled it but couldn't find much let me no how your pets reacted

I live on the WI/IL border and my 3 dogs were really acting strange. The earthquake here was about 4:30 a.m. and my dogs were up and barking to go outside, which they normally don't get up till around 6-6:30 a.m. They definately knew something was up.

What I heard most about dogs was that they were pacing before the earthquake. I also heard that some just started barking.
