Disney-fun in the sun

George and I decided to head to the convention for the Animal Expo early so we could do Disney with our friends. Julie and Cindy made excellent guides as they go to Disney every year for like at least the last 5 years that I know of.

George and I arrived on Sunday the 11th in the early afternoon. Once at our room, we called our friends who arrived at our hotel and took us to Downtown Disney. We ate some of the best sandwiches there. I can't remember the name of the place. But I know where it is located if we go again.

At this point is when Julie and Cindy get me hooked on Pin Trading. You purchase pins and trade with folks who work at Disney. It was really alot of fun. At one point, somebody told me that one of the pins I had traded for an hour before is worth some money as it is a mistake pin. Meaning that a word was spelled wrong and was still sold before they realized it. (Can't wait to find out how much it is worth).

We went shopping and exploring all of Downtown.

Monday was the Magic Kingdom in the morning. I had been here as a young kid in 1978. Boy, let me tell you that the whole place has changed. Well, most of it. "Its a Small World" Ride and the castle are still there. I have to say my favorites were Buzz Lightyear ride since I won the first time thru and came in second the next time, beating Julie and Cindy. I would have loved to have ridden that one just once more, but there was more to see.

I also loved Haunted Mansion. We did that one twice. It was a blast. This is Julie's favorite at this park.

By afternoon, we went to Epcot. It too was a blast, but I was getting really tired. Was glad to get back to our room when we did.

Tuesday was Disney's Hollywood Studios. It was I think my favorite park. It had a more adult feel to it. I loved the Muppets 3D movie and also the Lights, Camera, Action Stunt Show. We ate at the Sci-fi Dinner which was great. You sat in cars and watched a movie like you would at a drive in.

On the way back to our room, we decided that we would all sleep in which sounded really nice to me.

However, I was second person up. George was first. I woke up before 10:00 and called Cindy. They both were still sleeping. But yet, managed to get up and ready. George and I headed Downtown will we waited for them. After all, I had more pin trading to do. Next stop for all of us was the convention to find out what time we had to be at the event on thursday.

Wednesday evening was spent with Julie at the Zootoo Dinner. It was great to meet so many of the friends whom I met thru Zootoo. Putting a face with the name and seeing everybody smile really brought the whole trip together for me.

Here was a room of devoted animal lovers wanting the best they can give to the animals in their care. What a great feeling.

Thursday was the Zootoo Event and I was so excited to be a part of that. Words just can not really describe how I felt. Yes, I was sad our shelter did not make the top three. But I still believe we are winners.

Thursday late afternoon and evening was just George and me. We loved being with Julie and Cindy who make excellent tour guides for Disney (thanks guys). However, George and I wanted some us time.

We went to the animal kingdom to find out that they closed at 6:00 instead of 9:00 like the other parks. So we went Downtown. We decided to do the Cirque du Solell show called La Nouba. If you have never been to a Cirque Du Solell Show, you need to go if you get a chance. We loved it. After that was dinner and back to the hotel for packing.

Friday was a plane ride home and I have to stay, I am glad to be home.

Disney was fun in the sun with good friends. I recommend it to anyone.

I'd never been to Disney So The Ladies made me wear a "1st Timer" Badge so all could know of my lack of Disney knowledge. I had a blast and would love to go again.

Ready when you are. I will make sure to pack the sunblock in the gallon size tube.
