De - pointed

New phrase I've developed. Definition: points removed from zootoo account. Everytime I log in I've lost several hundred more points. I though we had moved on beyond this point thing since the contest has ended but apparently not. So, I'm just going to amuse myself and see if I can reach a negative balance.

I would like to know where my favorite picture that was zootoodeleted is? It was a cute picture of my ferret with a ferret book, I can only assume that someone flagged it, thinking that my ferret couldn't read.

I'm sorry you lost your ferret photo but your comment was funny. Maybe reading ferrets have been disqualified.

FROM ZOOTOO: it may be related to the deletion of another user. If that user was a fake, duplicate account, any helpfulness vote made towards your reviews is also deleted.

A reminder to all: this site was created for pet lovers to exchange information in the hope of preventing another pet food recall. Although points provide benefits to an user and a shelter, please look at this site for its bigger picture: sharing information to help pets and each other.

On a personal note, both "de-pointing" and "zoomed" are quite funny... :)

Thanks for the reply, Marcello. I see that you caught the humor for which this was intended. I do see the bigger picture every time I walk into a shelter and that's why I am still actively involved in this website. Anybody anywhere who helps animals is a winner.

If we're allowed to have some fun with these words, then maybe some zootoo accounts are "un-pointed" and others are "de-pointed". This makes an analogy with similar terminology used for "unfounded" and "defounded" crimes reported to the police. "Unfounded" is when no crime actually occurred and "defounded" is when a crime may have occurred but the police--for whatever reason(s)--choose NOT to consider it a crime. When a zootooer loses points because of his/her or another zootooer's bogus entry, these would be "un-pointed"; when zootoo (if this is possible!) fails to realize legitimately-earned points and deducts them, these would be "de-pointed". My terminology could be divided into "zoomed down" (points were deducted) and "zoomed up" (points were credited). If anyone whines over the decision, s/he may be boohooed.

Maybe we could start our own zootoo dictionary. I like it

We definitely have a "Zootoo Subculture", so it is time we develop our "lingo".

"De-pointed" is an interesting term, but I'd say you got "zoomed".

The points are still tied to your status (e.g., zoocomer, zoomaster) and determine how many free products you may receive each month (if they ever arrive is a separate issue). If points aren't deducted for meaningless comments and reviews, zootooers would be receiving more free samples than they would otherwise be entitled to. There may be other reasons why zootoo is making the deductions at this time but, since they have the final say, there really isn't anything you can do about it.

Hi Michelle. Thanks for the input. I hardly got any free samples because they're never available but I am grateful for what I did get. I have always liked this site for reasons other that trying to win a shelter makeover and I have always been an honest and regular contributor. I never used words like "kewl", "interesting", or "great" to do a review. It just gets a little frustrating and I did a minor venting which I hope was taken with the humor intended. Zootoo did send me an email with an explanation and thought it was funny.

Brea-I have no idea. I think that if it can be safely used for a pet, it should be included on the site. But they seem to deduct alot of things like animal safe fruits and vegetables, common household products, etc. Seems like it has to be a "brand name" item for advertising purposes. There seems to be no clear cut guidelines for what they feel is animal worthy on this site. I've been doing this for many months and have known many people to have had points deducted with no explanation.

Sometimes reviews are deleted when they aren't specific enough--- it has to be YOU, or someone you know, who actually USED the product. It isn't enough to say, "Gee I'd love to try XYZ" or "I heard XYZ works great." Also, if the product is deleted, then your review will be deleted too, and you could lose the points from a review, picture, or video of that product.

At least, that's what I've figured out so far! Of course, I'm a ZooMaster so I don't have to worry about points any more. ;^p
