Wiggles Blue Heeler will have his tenth birthday Saturday, July 19th. I've already got the steak purchased, a lovely sweet potato to bake and share, broccoli to steam, and a piece of Oat Nut bread for his birthday supper.

What I'm hoping for is for Wiggles' ZooToo friends to simply write a brief comment to this Journal entry with what you'd like me to tell Wiggles from you, or if you'd like me to transmit an ear scratch, tummy rub, "hug-a-bug," playtime with the rope Kong, etc. I promise to faithfully pass along the birthday good wishes and tell him from whence they came (i.e., Katie's mom, Betty and Diva Differ, Cassie and Bonnie Rose, Rachel and Diva Kelsie, etc.).

George, in the interest of equal time, Wiggles is on your side (as guy to guy), so putting in a word to him will make him very happy!

Thanks, one and all. We lead a quiet life, but on July 19th, 1998, a most precious soul was born, and I'd be blessed if you'd help me tell him so!

Kim, I've given the wiggly birthday boy of late, a big hug and kiss from you, and he's just wiggling all over in happiness! Your Mitzy was beautiful and I'm glad you have other canine compadres, but know you will miss her always. Thank you for asking me to give Wiggles a big hug from you! He gets lots of hugs, but I told him this one was from Kim! He loved it!
The Day After ... Wiggles and my mini-staycation has been postponed by one day. He tried too many different things yesterday and has a wee bit of an upset tummy and loose bowel today (not much, just enough to warrant my keeping a close and solicitous eye on him to make sure that he's over it before we go anywhere, no matter how close to home. When a guy's had such an exciting day as Wiggles had yesterday, there's no place like home for rest and recuperation!

He didn't eat too much yesterday, just several small tastes of things that were new to his palate.

After being a bit listless for three hours and actually turning down a Milk-Bone Senior dog biscuit, he is feeling well enough that he wanted the biscuit and enjoyed it with great relish about a half hour ago. Must keep his systems all in great working order!

Maybe some oatmeal for supper tonight ... no fever, just a wee bit under the weather for a little while.
Monday morning update: Wiggles is his usual wiggly, playful, energetic self today after a nice quiet night of letting the digestive system return to normal. He got some dry kibble mixed with warm rice and little pieces of white chicken meat for supper, plus his usual Brewer's yeast, glucosamine/chondroitin, etc., and munched it all like a trooper. Now we're off for a walk!
Sorry, Wiggles--I tried twice to upload a video yesterday to you from Crimba, but received those "your video could not be added to Zootoo" messages. IF Zootoo is on a delay (and the video file is not invalid), perhaps the video will be posted today. (I know your party is at least a three day one, so even a late video will be "timely".)
We have a dial-up connection, which makes any video longer than 30 seconds unwatchable, but thank you, anyway! No, the birthday was just a day, but we are taking our first-ever mini-staycation from now 'til Tuesday afternoon, so are out of pocket and offline (much needed!).
Looks like Zootoo finally added the video I submitted on Wiggles' birthday! That's quite a delay. Unfortunately, it is about 53 seconds (and not very good, either!).
Oops--It was from LUZY, not Crimba (DAH)--I should have stayed in bed....

Dear ZooTooers, Wiggles Blue Heeler here! We just got home from going to a neighboring small town for its Saturday morning Farmer's Market.

One nice lady gave me a baggie with three homemade peanut butter cookies! Mom carries my water bowl wherever we go and I washed down two little bites of cookie with some cool, fresh water. We told the cookie lady (who is also quite an artist and is going to do a painting of Mom and me soon; the lady donates 15 percent of the proceeds of her art sales to the Madison County Humane Society of Madison County at London, Ohio) about my birthday dinner: strip steak, baked sweet potato, steamed broccoli, etc., and that there were other special treats on hand, so we'd have to ration the cookies over a several-day period, but we both thanked her!

All the little kids and their parents and grandparents oohed and aahed over me, petted me and kissed me! Being the people lover that I am, each child got a little slurpy on the hand or knee (whichever I could best reach) and if the adults wanted one, I kissed their hands. We found a neat adult size apron for my Auntie Barb that says "Adminster Chocolate and No One Gets Hurt!" I know that chocolate is for people, not dogs, and Auntie Barb has been so good to us over the years, sending both Mom and me birthday and Christmas care packages, so Mom and I thought this lil gift would be something Auntie Barb would like.

Then we were off to Steak-n-Shake to get and split a strawberry milkshake, extra-thick, with no whipped cream or cherries. We took it next door and enjoyed meeting new friends in the waiting room of the place that does oil changes (it was time for the lil blue Ford Ranger to get its oil changed). One nice lady has three rescue dogs and she just made over me and told Mom how wonderful I was (by now, Mom knows that, but she listens and smiles understandingly).

From there, we headed for the local Metro Park, Prairie Oaks, and talked with the nice ranger, did a little walking (there's not much shade and it was getting pretty hot) and headed for a local historic cemetery where there are lots of BSTs (Big Shade Trees) and neat smells, like squirrel, raccoon, etc.

We had lots of water on hand and we both drank plenty, but knew it was just too hot and humid for us, so we came home to lounge around in the great air conditioning.

Thanks to DeeDee for the latest rendition of the Happy Birthday song, which Mom just sang to me, complete with the Tra La La LAAAA!

Thanks to everyone for their lovely birthday wishes, tummy rubs, back and ear scratches, etc. I'm one very happy dog today, I'll tell ya!

God bless ZooToo and all my friends, two- and four-legged. Time to go and give Mom another thank-you slurpy-slurp on the cheek for being so good to me.

Ah, yes! Wiggles here to report that it was a fine day, even though too hot to be outside until almost dark. Mom mowed the lawn and got it looking all spiffy so I wouldn't stumble over anything like walnuts, sticks, etc. Now she is pooped, but I must say, it's sure nice to walk around a freshly-mown yard! My birthday dinner was fabulous and I had some of those neat cookies from K9 Cookie Company in Illinois and ZDogBakery in Georgia -- Yum, YUM!!!! Think I'll take a snooze now and dream about our upcoming mini-staycation (vacation spent close to home)! Wiggles

Oh, I'll be fine! I've been fudging a little and passing some of them along today ... telling Wiggles that he'll soon be a Birthday Boy and how many nice people and pets are sending him birthday wishes! However, tomorrow through Tuesday we will be out of pocket with birthday festivities! Yes, I'll take photos, maybe a video or two, and have a new Journal Entry sometime next week!

Joette, I'm so proud of my mom! She does her best for me every day. Here's proof: I'm supposed to get my monthly dewormer tomorrow, which happens to be my birthday. Mom gave it to me today, along with a few bites of my birthday cookies, so we'd not have to do it tomorrow. Is that love and devotion or what?! Thank you for adding your birthday wishes for me. Tomorrow is sure going to be one super-fine day for me, and it's all due to my mom's love and caring. I think I'll go now and give her a nice slurpy-slurp! Wiggles
