On Becoming Suitable

Tito's yard
I still want to be able to bring a shelter dog into our family. I think there could be a good match for Tito and our nuthouse. So I made two more steps in this direction: The WCHS Canine Behav Spec has an appt to come to the house, next week to meet Tito, then have him meet some dogs. I think we should do this in multiple sessions. So we'll see...she might turn around and run away as fast as she can.

I also got a quote on fencing in a part of the yard. BIG ouch.

Oh yeah! I don't know about prices up there, but we had a new fence put around the backyard a couple of years ago...they're not cheap! I'm sure there's a dog out there that Tito will accept. Cassidy has problems with some & seems to like others. As far as anything coming onto our property, she does better with younger, immature dogs of the opposite sex.

That's exactly what I've heard from many people. I'm hoping that Kathie's visit here, will put me kind of on a waiting list, and she'll call me when an appropriate playmate arrives at the shelter. There's actually a couple of young females there now, 1-1.5 yrs old. Is that too old?

I think the age is going to depend on the dog & its personality. Just do a visit & get a feel for their interaction & you'll soon know if you need to go younger.
