Baby passed away

I got Baby when she was 12 weeks old in 1991. She's been a part of the family for 17 years. Two years ago she had a stroke and nearly died. It left her off balance, her head permanently tipped, and her back legs only somewhat functional. She continued to show the love and dedication she always had, but it was becoming very clear that she was losing her mind. She would stand facing the closet door and bark wanting to go outside, completely unaware that she was barking at the wrong door. On 4/3/08, Baby suddenly lost most of the function in one of her rear legs. That night she lost function of both rear legs. Baby had been unable to get up on her own for several months, but now she was unable to walk more than a few steps without falling down. As a family, we made the very difficult decision to let her go in a dignified way. We brought her to the veterinarian on Friday, April 4, 2008 and stayed with her as she passed away. We will always remember our Baby girl, and we will miss her terribly. We were blessed to share 17 wonderful years with her, and to be granted the opportunity to be there with her as she made the transition to Rainbow Bridge.
