Any one else notice????

I swear that my points have not been moving at all.Normally I don't pay much attention, but last night I remembered catching the total and thinking that I was past that number.
Anyway,I've been answering news, etc.,and I just noticed that my points are still the same.
I know zootoo is doing some changes on the site, but I hope that I'm not losing points for it.

Wow,I just checked out the point info and what a few surprises. We're down to 3 reviews a day, instead of ten.
I have reviewed a lot of items, and each one has actually been witnessed or used by me,so I thought reviews were great. Not only do they help people with choices, but promoting sales #'s for pet companies, etc.
Now you can get up to 5 votes on pet wars, one point for each vote...Why do we need that?
They're also giving points for a set # of journals per day.I don't know where that's really needed either.I thought we did journals for our own satisfaction????
IDK....sometimes things get way more stupid and complicated than they need to be.

Oh yea, there's also a limit on News comments,** NOW Limited to 5 news discussions per day. I guess after I get to 5,I'll take a rest for now on. lol
When I first joined,I didn't know that there was a limit of 10 reviews and photos per day,and I spent countless hours doing reviews and searching through my photo's only to realize that a lot of them were not counting-which meant that I gave alot of my time for free. That kind of sucks.Normally I wouldn't mind, but when contests are being promoted,it's a bit different.
This is all kind of bumming me out.It seems to be getting more complicated by the moment, and shouldn't be.I have a hard enough time now figuring out why points, then no points, then points. I don't think it makes me feel very confident about the whole thing

My points seem to be doing ok. I thought if you did pet wars you got 5 points, but I seem to be only getting 1 point. Pet wars is confusing. Also will pet wars not let you vote for your own pet? I have never seen my pet on it.

See "learn more about your point status" by the point icon. You get one point per pet war vote limit 5 per day. Yes you can vote fore your own pet if you ever see it. I stopped doing pet wars because some pets I would see 3 or 4 times per hour and I would only see one of my pets once a week if I was lucky.

Well, I'm not giving Zootoo any "helpfulness" points since they failed to notify us that the point system was changed. I realize Zootoo does not HAVE to notify us and that we are responsible to FIND the changes, but what would be so terrible about Zootoo making an announcement on the home page??

It would be nice to see an " Announcement " somewhere.....or mass mailing to each of us. I just found out about Pet War points, and most of us don't even like P.W.

I've been watching mine and they haven't moved in a few days.. Wonder what's up with that?

I noticed mine were staying the same for awhile also, not that matters that much to me but it may to others.

I found that when I requested some free samples I was only allowed two. On the third try I got this message. "Zoophytes are allowed only 2 requests per month." But after reading how well the free samples system (doesn't) work, I don't know if it does matters.

Though, I like to think my points matter. I guess it's the competitiveness in me. Me against myself.

I have requested free samples several times and have never received any..

I'm at the zoomaster level and have received two samples in total. It's seldom there's anything available. Today there are a total of five items. I have a choice between pegetables; my GSD is allergic to corn. The other choice is two fish products. I don't have fish. So there you go...

Maybe I am just not paying attention, but I have never actually noticed my points so I wouldn't know if they went up or down. I wouldn't consider myself a total newbie here-I just have yet to figure out exactly what the point system means and am too lazy to read about it. Maybe I just don't have anything important to say but I guess mine are about the same???????

I didn't really think about untill I read this and I checked and mine are not going up either. hmmmm, I don't know what is going on.

I'm thinking that for every 20 comments I make, only one must be worth 5 points.I'm now wondering if I lost points for sarcastic humor that sometimes slips out. lol

Oh goodness. They may as well go ahead & do away with points then!

Update.......did get a points today!!!

It's late and I'm tired. The three-ring circus mind is, therefore, on the loose!

Who counts after 39, anyway?!!!!! LOL!

I lost four (4) whopping points some time today. Either someone at Zootoo has a lot of free time and nit picks or I just didn't deserve ALL those points and they were justifiably deducted. Well, I got 5 points yesterday and 5 points today for "drawing" alligator teeth!!! HA! (Maybe no one at Zootoo will notice them and I'll get to keep all ten points.) It would be different if points could be exchanged at the Zootoo penny candy store--I wouldn't want to get a Dum Dum lollipop or roll of "Smartie" candy that I didn't earn. :) and %-8

Somewhere on ZooToo a while back, I read that we can lose points if we've commented on a product or service and that product or service gets canceled. Maybe that's where the loss of points originates? Dunno ... just an idea.

But the comments to product/service reviews never received points, did they? The only things worth 1 point are when someone marks your service/product review as "helpful" or when others think your comment to a petnews story is a "good point". Losing 4 points doesn't make sense, does it?? Kim H above seems to think that voting in Pet Wars used to earn 5 points and now earns 1 point--but I don't think voting in Pet Wars earns (or ever earned) any points. What is clear is that many Zootooers aren't sure what activities earn points anymore!

Sorry, I meant to say "reviewed," not "commented."

according to the info on my page you can get one point for each vote... for a total of 5 per day. I thought "answers" were worth 4 points.

If this is the case, then it has been changed since I last saw how points are awarded.

Right by your points icon there's some little info wording that tells what you get points for now.

Thanks--I see that writing a journal entry is worth 15 points. Zootoo supposedly set limits on the number of each activity that can earn points each day in order to improve the "quality" of the submissions. Well, surely all the regular Zootooers have noticed the ONE SENTENCE "journal" entries!! Gee, three sentences = 45 points....that's what I call QUALITY.

I haven't noticed this--but I'll look.

IF I can earn up to 5 points per day by voting in Pet Wars (and do nothing else), I think I could be a Zoomaster by the end of 2012 !!

I don't think that you earn any points in Pet Wars....if you do, that's news to me.

'Smarties'? Where? I'd be working harder for points if I could get Smarties. As it is, I'm just working to put a green line in my circle. Co you qualify for more free samples if you have more points?

Theoretically, "yes"--but I haven't received several of the free samples I've requested, so I guess I've been black-listed or something. (No matter how many points I earn, I don't think I'll be getting any more free samples.) "Smarties" are hard to find, except around Halloween.

I (or should I say Wiggles) have never received that first sample. That's all right; if he likes something, I"d get a larger size for him, but how to tell if he likes it, if no sample ever arrives? Ah, life! You are a puzzlement!

I can't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I'll offer this. IMHO, points mattered during the Shelter Makeover Contest, which ended on April 1, 2008.

Now the Rescue Sweepstakes is relying on entries to determine the winner.

Drat! I hit the Submit button accidentally/too soon! I was going to say that, even though points may not "count" toward "winning" any contest, competition or sweepstakes, those just joining ZooToo can look at the senior ZooTooers (I don't mean senior, as in aged, but senior, as in experienced and dedicated) and consider how much time and effort it's taken to accrue those points. Perhaps ZooToo's credibility is enhanced by those devoted ZooTooers that have been with this and are still "in it for the long haul." I don't know for sure, but it can't hurt, and it would be so neat if ZooToo would have a national celebration each year in a central location (say, St. Louis or Kansas City or Denver) and those ZooTooers able to travel to that venue could meet and have nametags with their "profile photo" and name, knowing there'd be immediate recognition! Ditto for our pets, because the celebration would just have to be held in a pet-friendly city with pet-friendly motels, restaurants, parks, etc.! Points might once again become important for another ZooToo event, like maybe Deedee and her pet could get the PS (Penthouse Suite) at the celebration venue!

LOL..............I have "nothing to wear" !!!!!

I love that idea, Julie Kay! And everyone should wear those same type of dark sunglasses that DeeDee sports. Maybe we could do a "Breakfast at Tiffany's" theme. Holly's cat didn't have a name, she just called him "cat." And, yet, she hunted through the rain to rescue that cat. Plus, the theme "Moon River" is very similar to the rainbow bridge. "Wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day."

Oh, but we need to add a strand of pearls and a big hat to those shades. Instead of the Red Hat Club, we could be the Holly Go Lightly Girls. LOL

Next photo, the PEARLS will appear.......on Pippin !!!!

What's the point of even having points at this point? Points may determine one's Zootooer status, but does it REALLY matter?

I heard somewhere that points=revenue for your affiliated shelter and rescue

No clue if that is he truth, if it once applied but now it doesn't.... No clue.

Zootoo really needs to clarify what does/doesn't earn points and how, exactly, the points pertain (or do not pertain) to the rescue group sweepstakes.

Are points no longer involved for the other contest for the Rescue groups? Status doesn't mean a thing to me,as I've been #1 more than once, but I continue on for points because of this other contest.
If points don't matter,I am clearly missing what I'm supposed to be doing.

3devinecats, from reading the rules, points do not matter. It's a sweepstakes--the more entries (supporters) a rescue has, the greater chance of winning the sweepstakes. It is important that each supporter 1) select a rescue, 2) upload a profile photo (that can be of you, of you and your pet, or of just your pet), and 3) write one review on a product/service. In order to be a valid entry, all three steps must be satisfied.

It might be a good idea to write more than one review, however, since "Eligible entries will be screened by representatives from the Sponsor and/or their advertising agency."

Part of the rules pertaining to *supporters* for the Pet Rescue Sweepstakes follow: Eligibility: Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on March 24, 2008 and ends at 11:59:59 PM EST on September 30, 2008. The rescue group will be required to invite
“Supporters” to support their group. The more “Supporters” the rescue group has, the more entries they will receive into the Sweepstakes. Each “Supporter” must be a validated registrant on Zootoo.com, upload one user photo and submit one review on a pet product or service on the website. Eligible entries will be screened by representatives from the Sponsor and/or their advertising agency.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Cassie,it did help a lot. There's nothing like walking into a middle of a movie and trying to figure out what's going on. lol I came when the crazy end of the contest was winding down,so it's been like "Catch up" for me.
I think I had points on my mind because of writing reviews, who knows?
Well, from what you said,I am going the right way anyway,so I'll just continue on .
Thanks again!

Sorry, Cassie3--my response is more for 3devinecats--and is actually a clarification that supports what you wrote (that points do NOT matter)...I wrote too soon and was partly confusing what she wrote and you wrote. [Time to get some sleep!]

But what you are pointing out--the more ENTRIES, the greater the chance of winning--doesn't pertain to POINTS. Entries refer to completed registrations; once the people SUPPORTING a rescue group fulfill the requirements to become a "qualifying entrant", the number of points each one has does NOT seem to matter. From what I can tell, it is more important to have a large number of "qualifying entrants" than a large number of points.

And, every time I do gain points via photo/video reviews, I receive a Zootoo message that those points go to the shelter I was supporting in the makeover contest (Pet Adoption League)--not to the rescue group I am supporting in the Sweepstakes.

Darn tootin' it matters. I spent an enormous amount of time and effort in acquiring those points and zoomaster status in a couple of months. I earned that medal the hard way to become the point leader for my chosen shelter. And yes, I absolutely deserve that recognition.

Zootoo should keep in mind that it relied heavily on its top point earners' participation, dedication, and initiative in adding members to make this site a reality.

My point was that the points mattered during the makeover contest, but no longer appear to have that significance. I'd like to know if/how the points matter AT THIS TIME.

Hi, Michele. See my reply above regarding the rules for the Rescue Sweepstakes.

Once again, I missed your original point about points. When will I learn? LOL As the great Roseanne Rosanna Danna would say in her extremely irritating, screechy, squeaky voice, "Never mind."

I pretty much did the same thing to you--can we call it "even"?

Well I guess I will join the club on this journal! I have been having trouble uploading photos and videos. I can't seem to answer any of the questions in the question and answer section. My points have stopped completly. I have recently tried to write journal entrys and when I was done and hit the submit button, another screen would come up to start over with a new entry! I'm not a slow typer, so I'm sure it didn't time out on me. I wonder whats going on with the site? With all of the updating that they are doing I hope they make the photo section so we can upload bigger picture files. I have a 12 megapixel camera and it wont except the picture files because they are to large. It is really a pain in the dupa, everything I have to go through just to get a picture on here! I'm sorry I really don't like to complain, but it's very fustrating.

I was so excited to read your misery! LOL I couldn't answer any questions either. Here's the help from Zootoo: "Please make sure that when you do click on the "Answer Question" blue tab, and scroll down, a window appears allowing you to answer the question." The key part of this is SCROLL **WAY** DOWN. Hitting the "blue tab" doesn't seem to do anything...where you can SEE it. Ah, very sneaky. One would think that the result would appear in plain view! Not so, Grasshopper! Again, the trick is hit the tab and then scroll, scroll, scroll---down, down, down.

Not that you asked, but I have a few suggestions. Type your journal entries ELSEWHERE. Save them and then you can make as many attempts as necessary to get them into Zootoo. As far as the photos, do you have software that will crop them and/or lower the resolution? That's how I got around that problem. You have to keep your videos very, very short. Stay with 15 seconds or lower and you shouldn't have any problems. Also, save the in the lowest quality format.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips, I will give them a try!!

It took me a while to realize I had to scroll down to be able to answer the questions--it really is out of plain view and should be placed in an obvious location.

I have noticed and also am having a terrible time with the site in general. I have tried 4 time plus unsuccessfully to load a photo and write a journal only to have it not load. I know they are changing the site around and it takes awhile. Its quite irritating to spend all the time writing a journal, trying to load a photo and wait and wait only to have it stall out our fail. I have had other issues with pages not coming up. Has anyone else? I sure hope they get it all corrected soon. Also I am not so sure even being a newbie here on zootoo that I am to happy with the way they have changed the point system. Anyone else or is it just me? thanks...

I left the house at 10 AM yesterday with 1824 points. I got home at 11:30 and I only had 1799. I did add points yesterday but haven't gotten my 25 points back.

I've noticed that my points have been going down too sometimes. Wonder what's up?

I had to laugh.I got off the computer for a while and when I came back,I had 20 more points. Is my Internet running slower than even I imagined? lol

Yes, my point total appears to have stagnated / ground to a screeching halt. Wonder what's up?

I've commented on articles and journals today, but point total hasn't budged. Photos are still missing, too.
