About Me

I was blessed with the most wonderful Dalmatian when Dana, (the one pictured with me) came into my life in January 1991 at the age of 7 weeks. She was my shadow. I called her my thick and thin because she was always at my side through good and bad. When Dana was 6 years old, I found an abused and broken down little deaf Dalmatian, I called Bowie (after David Bowie) because she had one blue eye and one brown eye. I did not know how Dana would receive her but she opened her big heart and treated her like she had always been part of our family. Bowie followed Dana and learned from her. She learned sign from me after about a year. Things were good. Dana became sick at the age of 13 and I lost her within 2 weeks of finding out she had a tumor in her lungs. Bowie seemed to die along with her. She did not know where to turn without the guidance of Dana. That's when I turned to www.DalmatianRescue.com. There I met Pati Dane, the owner, operator and chairman of the board for Dalmatian Rescue of North Miami Beach. My life has not been the same since. She helped me with the adoption of Shannon. Bowie once again became the playful pup she was with Dana. Sad to say, I lost Bowie to cancer in January of 2005. Just a year and a half after the loss of Dana. My heart still breaks when I think of my Dana and Bowie who waits for me at the Rainbow Bridge, but now how my life and heart is filled with spots. Thanks to the rescue of 5 more great dogs. I call Pati an angel to Dalmatians and other breeds as well. She also runs a Pets At Risk program. She has commited her life to saving and rescue and has done a wonderful job of it. Please visit the web site. You will not be disappointed. I started doing transports for her and the organization. That lead to me becoming more involved in the organization and I am proud to say have now become a member of the board. Please if you have the time and can support a rescue organization, do so. It is so rewarding. Find one close to your heart and give a helping hand. I did and I pray that you will too. Remember, all creatures large and small are gifts from God.
