100 Years Young

Rowdy celebrated his 20th birthday sometime this Spring making him my first centenarian kitty! He still gets around pretty good and enjoys taking a short constitutional when the weather is warm. He is beginning to feel his age though, his eyesight is not very good anymore and he gets confused and cries sometimes. I've moved his litter pan upstairs since he no longer will go to the basement, but overall he does pretty good for an old gent. One thing that definitely contributed to his longevity is getting his teeth cleaned by the vet every year. He has only lost one tooth - I only wish I could say the same.

Over the years he has been a warrior, hunter, ladies man and loving mentor to the kittens I've adopted. Now that he's an old fellow it's nice to see Keebler treat him tenderly and with great affection. I know Rowdy finds it comforting. The vet says he is in outstanding health so hopefully we will have him for many more years. From a fragile little kitten who was taken from his mama far too soon (he was dumped on our porch at about 4-5 weeks of age) who would have guessed that he would outlive all his peers to reach the grand age of 100 and still going strong! Three cheers, old boy!
