I have not been zootooing because I have been very busy. But I wanted to let all know that today May 15th, 2009, I had to put Hrothgar down.

I adopted Hrothgar in Nov. 2000 when he was about 4 years old. He was a stray at the shelter and you could tell he had been abused because when you would reach for him, he would duck or throw himself on to the ground. After a month or so, he realized that he would never be hurt again.

Hrothgar had become a wonderful, loving dog. He did PR events with me for the HSMC. He learned to love all because he knew his mommy would not let him get hurt.

For over 2 years, we have been battling cancer (mast cell). From my understanding, most don't last that long. But he did.

Last night Hrothgar got sick a couple times and I just knew he was not feeling right. This morning, I knew something major was wrong.

I got him to our regular vet and his blood count was so low. He had very little platlets, white and red cells very, very low. His tongue was swelled and he was having major trouble breathing.

To put down an animal that you love with all your heart is one of the hardest things to do. George and I held him when he went. He will be buried with his Little Buddy Harlem and the rest of our dogs who have long gone.

I did want my friends here at Zootoo to know as all of you had been a big help to me during his cancer treatments.
