Calling all Creative ZooTooers: Need Help with Fundraising Ideas!

I'm on Student Council at my school (we're a vet tech school) and we're trying to come up with some school-wide fundraisers that are cheap and easy to do. So far we've come up with a (human) bake sale, and maybe even a doggy bake sale. We are also thinking about having a "dress down" day where if you pay $1 or something you can wear your own scrubs to school (we currently have "uniforms" each class has to wear) as well as getting some tshirts or hoodies made with our school's logo on it and selling them. Does anyone else have any ideas they can add to the list? Our school isn't very large right now; we're at about maybe 70+ students, give or take.

We are also getting involved with many pet-related events in our area and hopefully try to sell cute things like homemade doggy treats or bandannas at a booth, so any ideas on how to raise funds for stuco would be much appreciated! Thank you everyone, so much!

If you have someone in your group that likes to sketch, maybe they can do sketches of pets for a fee!

At my old job we used to have a pot luck meal.Everyone bring in a entree of something and charge a $1 or 50 cents a scoop.Or we would have raffles we did this for JDF every year. Our sell some hot dogs.Or tag sales.Everyone bring in stuff and sell it.

Being a Sunday School teacher, I have a smidge of experience with this...since we have to do fundraisers in order to provide the supplies and literature for our Sunday School classes. Just a suggestion, but you could ask some of the local businesses to donate different items *(which would be tax dedutable for them)* and use the items in a silent auction at your school. Businesses are all for anything to write off of their taxes. You could also set up the pop can tab fundraiser (each one is like 5 cents or something) you can collect all the pop can tabs and turn them in for money. Or you could do the t-shirts ( as you said) you can make your own at home with an old hot glue gun and crayons. You can melt the crayons in the hot glue gun to create a logo on a plain white t-shirt and sell them. That would also be a cool idea for tote bags (for those students who are interested in tote bags for their books and other supplies or poud parents could use them also). ALSO gift baskets are GREAT. YOu can make pet baskets or goody baskets (all the supplies can be found at dollar stores and thrift stores) and sell those for profit. You cna get REALLY creative with the gift baskets. Hope these ideas are useful or maybe spark some ideas for you! ^_^

I used to work for print shops. We did lots of charity prints for free, for a trade, or for next to nothing. I see there are a lot of print shops in your area. You can approach the print shop business owners and ask for a print job in exchange for some veterinary service(s) that your school can offer. Use the printed materials for your fundraiser. It can be anything but the most common animal one I know about is the pet calendar(s) or SPCA poster(s).

If all the print shops turn your down for a services for services exchange you still have one other option to approach them for an exchange. Most print shops have occasional large jobs that require extra laborers to help that they don't keep on hand. They often require help stuffing, packaging, shrink wrapping, binding, counting, boxing and doing all sorts of things that don't require a special skill (just something they'll show you how to do when you get there). If all the owners don't have pets or aren't interested in just donating their services to your school, then they might take you up on an offer of a certain number of volunteer hours by X amount of people in exchange for them donated the supplies, materials, machine(s) and manpower to create and produce the job.

I think you could do the same charity calendar that the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is doing. AWLA charges an entry fee per pet and the entrant gets one calendar. People vote on the pets to be in the calendar by donating a dollar per vote. You can make your calendar school related if you want and have it set up to run for the next school year rather than Jan-Dec if you want. This is a major fundraiser for the AWLA. You can see all their rules and benefit from there annual fundraiser by reading the following URL and contacting them with any questions.

Another idea for a faster method of income. People love having vet techs as pet sitters/walkers during their vacations. People love it because their pet is being cared for by a professional who has been trained in the wellness and first aid of their pets. Y'all could place ads on Craigslist, photocopy fliers, and ask vet offices to post your fliers recruiting for the pet sitting fund-raiser. Of course, the vet tech pet sitters donate all their earnings to the charity and the pet owners feel like they're helping out in their own small way. If you have a budding artist in your group, have them create the fliers. If you don't have a local artist to help you, contact me and I can help you.

Wow! Those are awesome ideas! I never knew print shops would do things like that. All great info for anyone trying to raise funds for the animals.

I like the idea of a doggy bake sale.

What about kind of like a bring you kid to work day but instead a bring your pet to school day? You could charge 5 bucks for them to bring their pet in with them. You could possibly let them bring more than one but charge 5 per pet. This would probably help raise money.
