My holistic vet - Dr. Anna Maria Gardner, DVM (www.petsynergy.com)--has always told me to feed more veggies to my dogs! Well, my guys would nibble on a carrot once in a while until I finally discovered that they loved the baby carrots!

Now, after going outside first thing in the morning, they come running back inside barking their heads off..."We want our carrots!" Now I have three of my kiddos munching away on baby carrots as their morning snack.

Later in the afternoon for a mid-day snack, they come barreling back into the kitchen and demand their other snack of the day: snow peas or snap peas! They love them. You can hear them crunching away as they munch on them. I never knew dogs would love snow or snap peas, but after taking Moe to the park one Sunday, we ran by the local produce stand to pick up veggies for dinner. I bought some snow peas and when he stuck his head in the bag and pulled them out ... I thought, well, we'll give it a try.

He LOVES them. And now every Sunday it has become a ritual to stop by the produce stand to get his bag of snow peas for the week.

And of course, since he eats them, the others do too. (What is funny the other day my husband said "do you know what the guy said on the radio the other day about what are good snacks for dogs?! Snow peas!" He looked at me like I'm some genius. I told him I never knew it: Moe told me that dogs love snow peas!)

Anyhow...try out snow peas and snap peas. My guys also love apples, bananas, watermelon, broccoli and cucumbers.

But,no....they'll never become vegetarian. They still love their chicken and beef.
