Spirit Guide, Totem Animal, Kindred Spirit

Thanks to Korn Girl for suggesting I make this a JOURNAL entry instead of a question.

What animal do you look to for strength and wisdom (Your Totem animal, spirit guide, and/or kindred spirit)? Being part Native American myself I believe in animals as totems and spirit guides. Mine happens to be the TIGER and then other cats!

Since childhood I have felt a strong connection to the Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) http://en.wikipedia.org I find them beautiful and facinating.

I decided this morning, my totem is a HIPPO. LOL! My aunt gave me a stuffed hippo when I was a little girl, and it was one of the few toys I kept up until I got married (it was pretty shabby by that time.)
This morning I was watching a show and found out that hippos can bite a crocodile in HALF--- how cool is that? I definitely resonate with hippos.

I would have thought a cat but like Deedee and her fascination with elephants I have that same fascination with giraffes. Don't know what it is but they fascinate me and I can just watch them for hours.

My friend, an attorney, went to someone who told him his totem animal was the SKUNK. He was offended at first, he wanted to be something big and powerful... but then he realized that the skunk is respected by all the other animals, doesn't have to resort to violence to get respect. He's happy with his skunk totem!

lol that is funny.Shunks are very smart. And also good looking just gotta get past the smell:).

The Wolf is mine. They are family minded.Or at times alone.I have picture and little wolves all over.My next tatto is going to be a wolf.

This may sound odd, but elephants, definitely elephants. I like to look in their big wise eyes for "something". I can't tell you what that "something" is yet, but it's there. There are very intune with each other and have a sacred family bonding. They absolutely fascinate me.

Elephants are probably not a totem animal, but I love them!

Sure they are.

Thanks Sheri, I didn't know if I could use them! They are so majestic to me.

Great journal entry. I was just thinking about that today! I think the cat, too. I have a great respect for all animals, but especially cats.

I enjoy reading about Egypt and how cats were revered in Ancient Egypt. When a cat died, their humans shaved their eyebrows as a sign of grief. Off the subject, sorry, but interesting.

So, yes, cats, definitely, I align myself with the cat spirit. When I make eye contact with my cats I really feel a bond and communication with them. I wish I were better at
animal communications.

Very interesting, I didn't know about shaving an eyebrow when a cat died. I just tried to cut my son's hair and accidentally shaved off half his eyebrow... LOL!
