Album Review: Johnny Lunchbreak's Appetizer / Soup's On

Released on Numero Group's * label, Johnny Lunchbreak's album is... what? Something that has been on repeat on my computer for the past few days. Apparently the songs were recorded in the 1970s and the band hardly made it out of Connecticut in their 2 years of existence.

Appetizer / Soup's On is pop-y, punk-y and is nowhere near the disco the era was famous for. Numero got ahold of the original tapes a couple years ago and put out the long awaited album that should have been.

Check them out on iTunes or go to numerogroup.com to get a sample. The album benefits from multiple listenings and would probably sound even better on my stereo than coming out of my laptop's speaker.
