Samson is Missing!

Is this not the worse thing a pet owner can face? Saturday morning he was here. He was fine. I fed the dogs. He was on the porch when I gave him his joint supplements, fed him and gave him a treat. I got Riley, bathed him and took Riley to the vet. When I got home, Samson was here, I left again, went to Elkin, ran some errands and when I came home, it was raining. I didn't see Samson. He wasn't here later in the evening. When I got up Sunday morning, he still wasn't here, but all the rest of the dogs were. Now I am very concerned and worried. I go to church. I pray! Bring Samson home. He is not home after church. I ride all over the road 2 or 3 different times. I call neighbors. No one has seen him. By now I am making flyers and in a panic. Please everyone, pray that he is found. He was always at home. He is neutered and he never roamed, unless he was with the other dogs. The other dogs Lacy, Lily and Scooby are here. Riley is always here. Please please pray for his safe return.

Thanks to everyone who prayed and commented on this journal entry! I do believe in prayers and I do have faith! As you know, this story had a happy ending and Samson was found no worse for the wear and is home safe and sound! Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern!
I am so sorry to hear this. You and Sampson will be in my thoughts.
I will certainly pray for Samson's safe return. Just two days ago, I thought my cat, Patrick was missing. Wrote about it under American Shorthair group. Had a happy ending, and I hope you will as well. I know the feeling.
You and Samson will be in my thoughts. Have you tried contacting your local newspaper? Sometimes they have a section for lost pets where you can place an ad.
And I agree, you should contact local shelter. Good Luck!
I sure hope you have found Riley by now. Sometimes when dogs are not feeling well they hard in the weirdest places. Once I found my dog in the van. He jumped in through the window. A friend of mine found his dog in the van also. Look in every crevice of your house. Please let me know if you found Riley.

If you make up fliers and ask people to post them in the window of their cars when they go out. They will have the most impact if you can someone who uses handicapped parking to help (more foot traffic)

Praying for you. If you get Riley home a microchip would be in order. Keep us posted as we are hoping and praying.
I WILL PRAY, i know how you feel. Two of my cats disappeared, and i spent weeks walking up and down my road, looking for them.
Our thoughts and prayers are with both you and Samson. Do not give up hope, keep searching, put up more fliers with a large color photo in every supermarket, store, school, and any /all other high traffic places you may think of. List your phone number clearly for anyone to call if he is spotted. And keep spreading the work. If you have the money, or if your newspaper will sponsor this, you may want to take out a large ad with Samson's photo, the word "LOST" in caps, and offer a reward. Include your day and evening phone numbers. I hope and pray that you and your boy are reunited shortly.
Our male English Setter took off last year...ran right into the woods and was gone for over 2 days. My mother called all over looking for him and then one of the shelters said they had a dirty English Setter that they had picked up 3 towns over....she went to see and it was Dover!!! Definitely check out the shelters and call the Animal Control people in your area. I hope you find him soon....you are in my thoughts.
Hi Patricia - I hadn't heard anything so I was just checking in - apparently now word today? Holding him in my thoughts & prayers.
As someone said, go TO the shelter and look, you can't be sure unless you are there in person. ALSO, once my dog was missing when she was visiting a relative's farm. I made signs asking "Friends" to help us find our lost dog and gave them to everyone in the area. Eventually, a jogger (who jogged everyday down the road) found that she had been tied up in someone's barn. We went and got her right away. It really helps if you get your neighbors in on it.

If you live near woods or a creek you might want to check there. I have several dogs and a couple of them have gotten loose a few times. They always seem to either head to the woods or the creek. My thoughts and prayers are with you and him. I hope you find him soon.
I am so sorry for you and Samson. I know how you feel, I lost one of my cats a year and half ago. And one of my other dogs Sampson had to go to a sanctuary a few years ago for bitting my lip off when I was 7. (I'm 11 now) But my hopes are with you and your family.

I know how you feel. Our dog is close to 15, has trouble getting up and down and is on medication. She, too, is our sweetheart. She took off a couple times when she was younger. What a sick, horrible feeling! Luckily people found her, checked her collar information, and called us. Hopefully, the same will happen for you. I really hope so!
Hope you tried all the shelters in the area. Word of advice don't just call, go look at the dogs in the shelter and see for your self. Well meaning people work there, but some don't know the difference between one breed and another. Call all the area vets to be on a lookout for him. He would obviously have to be registered as a new pet if someone brings him in. I'll be praying you find him.

It is absolutely the worst feeling in the world and I do hope he returns to you soon. Elkin, NC?? I have a friend that lives there. I'm sure she'd help you look for him. She has two dogs of her own.

My heart goes out to you. There are few things more agonizing than having a pet disappear and wondering where are they, are they okay, will they come back? You sound like a wonderful woman and we will pray for Samson's safe and speedy return.
In the interim, you are doing the right things: posting fliers with his photo, putting the word out to newspapers, alerting neighbors and spreading the word. Check often will local animal shelters, too. You're right, this is every pet owners worst nightmare, and I hope and pray that you and Samson are reunited. Keep you hope and spirits up, and keep us all posted. Our hearts and thoughts are with you.
I hope Samson has returned safely. I will surely keep him in my prayers.
My thoughts and prayers are for Samson & your family. I pray he is returned soon.
