I know what you mean, my chinchillas had kits, and every time we have to give the kits away i am very sad. Most of the people we gave the chins to we know. They are all doing pretty good too!!

I feel your sadness over Goober. My dog had 7 puppies & we had to give 6 of them away because we already have 2 adult dogs. 1 of the 6 that was adopted ended up coming back because they couldn't keep him, so we ended up keeping him because the trauma of it all had him shaking so bad. All but 1 of the pups adopted got different names, that was hard for us because we gave them all names & to us all of the names fit each pup so well. Although it's very hard to give away babies that you have raised and named from birth, when you choose to give them away, it's the new owner's choice to name them what they want. All of our pups got very loving homes & we realized that was the most important thing that we wanted, changing their names was not a big issue anymore for us as long as we knew that they were going to be fine in their new homes. Hope this helps you dear!

Re-naming of dogs... I never really understood it... when I heard people did it, I was always like "What right do they have? If they adopted a kid, would they change the name too?" My thinking was once you name a thing it's as much a part of it as its tail or its nose!

Of course, then we got Beeblebrox. Nee Britney :)

I'm sorry, but go check out my zoo and my many pics of my dog and you tell me she's a Britney :)
