I'm a longtime Tucson resident, but I was out of town when I heard about this. I immediately made a donation to the Southern Arizona Humane Society and passed on the word (actually, that's how I found ZooToo, on their site). From what I've read, the case is being considered a hoarding case, which is a psychological problem that some people get from being abandoned themselves as children. The couple were overwhelmed and cooperative with the authorities. I have a friend who has offered use of her dog runs to foster some of the dogs, and I have another friend who is looking into adopting one of the crested pups.
