In honor of veteran's day

My son Zach with his son
As a child, I remember going to a parade every year on Veteran's Day. It seemed every town had one. It's hard to find them now. Our town has one each year. We went this morning, and it brought back many memories. My dad served in the US Air Force during WWII. My son is currently serving in the Navy. He has been in ten years now. I have three nephews currently in the Navy. One nephew in the Marines, and one serving in the Army. I applaud their willingness to serve our country. I honor all who have served. May God bless them all.

Thank you for sharing this. You have a wonderful family, all of them to be proud of. They are serving our country and I thank them.

You can be very proud of your son, Rose. All of the men in my life were Navy as well. My brother was in the Navy and all of my cousins were Navy. Repete was "almost" Navy. He had been accepted at Annapolis but turned it down just before he was to take his oath.

Wow! It's pretty hard to get in. I have three nephews that went to Annapolis. They all loved it!

I kept reminding Repete of the committment and the Commander in Chief at that time (he didn't like the President). I kept giving him "friendly reminders" about that. I don't feel bad that he decided not to go to Annapolis--in fact I was/am overjoyed. And as things turned out with my hubby I am definitely glad he did go into Annapolis. I needed him to give me moral support and he would not have been able to do that in the Navy.

It was good that he was there for you when you needed him.

Boy you have a large bunch who are in service! You must be very proud! It would be cool to see them all together in uniform, that would be a forever keepsake! I bet it is hard to get everyone together at the same time! I bet you have relatives going back to the american revolution! Thanks to them all and my God protect them and give them the victory whenever they face an advesary.

LOL Actually my mom is a DAR member. We have relatives on her side that fought in the Revolutionary War. One of my nephews is in Okinawa, one in South Korea, one is currently out on a sub, one in Annapolis, and my son is in Norfolk. I can't remember the last time the boys got together!

I should have included their families as well. It can be so hard for wives and children waiting at home.
