I live in hurricane town. Im in Lake Charles Louisiana. Your journal made me smile because atleast someone cares about the animals ... half of the ones in Cameron Parish, which is only a few miles away, didnt get saved because no one really tried. If it was me, I would have pushed my limits to get those animals.

We have Hurricanes in Florida, too. I know your concerns about the animals. Some of our emergency shelters at the area schools will take in families and their pets. However, pets must be in cages. Also you must bring their liscenes and certificates from the vet that they have had their shots. Thank goodness my location seems to be safe enough that we have never had to leave our home and take our dogs to a shelter. We just board up, light the candles and pray. Some areas like on the coasts are very dangerous places to live.

Getting your pets out in an emergency is one of the hard questions people need to remember when they are tempted to add another to the mix. You may be lucky enough to never have to do that. But if you did would you be able to live with yourself for just taking the ones that you could manage? I know that I couldn't
