Man hired to kill dog and uses hammer/axe is offered 90 days in county jail
Freddie Mock admitted to accepting $25.00 to euthanize a Manito woman's dog. He took the dog to a wooded area and used a hammer/axe to bludgeon the dog in the head, then left it for dead.
Freddie Mock was charged with 510 ILCS 70/3.02 Aggravated Cruelty. A person convicted of violating Section 3.02 is guilty of a Class 4 felony and can be sentenced to 1-3 years and fined up to $25,000..
The plea offer:
90 days in county jail (he will probably only serve 45 days)
2 years probation
Will not be allowed to own companion animals
States attorney Kristin Miller would not confirm if this was pleaded to a misdeamenaor. Kristin Miller also believes that 90 days is sufficent punishment and that the community would support that, she also believes that many people will think that is too much time.
