What a site to see, this morning Carol picked me up at 6 AM and we were off to pick up Jill, she met us at the door in her robe, somehow when Carol told her we would pick her up at 6:15 she thought she heard 6:50, so we made her throw some clothes on and off we went into the blizzard to make our way out to the Fairgrounds to meet Jackie and do our Professional Cat duties at the Rescue shelter set up for the Flood animals. After we were done with our duties, we toured the horse arena, and there was a beautiful little female colt that had just been born 4 days ago, the Mare was brought in just a couple of days before she gave birth. Can you imagine being shipped off to a rescue shelter in a flood to give birth? What a beauty she was, and both Mother and daughter were doing wonderfully amongst the other horses, the goat, and the pot bellied pigs. Even though some of the dogs and cats had already returned home, there were still some coming in. There were 3 strays brought in by the animal control that were rescued off the streets lastnight, and one more came in just as we were leaving, not sure if it was a stray or if he was from an evacuation, but one thing is for sure, he will be cared for while he is there. There is no shortage of supplies thanks to all the wonderful donations coming in.
Once we finished at the Fairgrounds it was off to Minn-Kota PAAWS to care for our shelter cats and all of the flood cats that we are also housing at our facility while their owners are displaced from their homes. I wonder what is going through their poor little minds, I bet they are missing their families...Carol put extra toys and beds in the rooms to make them feel more at home....she never forgets the toys, gotta love that about her.
