economic frustrations

in theory i work for an irrigation design company as their GIS/CAD specialist. I help with construction drawnings, create maps of service areas for agricultural ditch companies, and do a bit of research on water law related topics. i have a job, just no work. it's all floating out there "on hold" while government agencies and private builders try to decide what they are going to do. So this week i got to work 17 hours. Next week who knows. I've worked with this company 22 years and no one wants to sever the ties, but this is really really frustrating.

actually we won't be starving any time soon, we won't lose our house, and we'll be fine. my husband, bless him, is up to his eyeballs with work at the sign company he works for. Fortunately we've seen this coming and we're ready to deal with missing most of my income. My healthy kitties may end up eating Friskies and Brighty's checkup may have to go on CareCredit, but we'll manage. The two of us have been through worse.

In the meanwhile i just want to go back to work. I love what i do - i'm really good at it, and i hate being home.

Now that i'm done ranting i'm going to go the shelter and help with adoptions for a while. Tomorrow morning i'm going to get up and see if there's anyone in the area looking for part time help. one step at a time :)
