Today was the first day of leaf collection for this year. There will be two more collection days, the next two Saturdays (November 14 and 21).

The garbage collector doesn't always go up and down the streets to make the pick-ups. In fact, I think they were actually in the habit of only going to certain places and bypassing others. If someone on a "bypassed" road called to complain that the leaves were not picked up, the garbage collector made note of it and made an effort to pick up the leaves later in the week.

So what is so special about today's leaf collection?? I actually had three full bags since LAST YEAR! These bags were kept dry under the overhang of my house, and I didn't think I'd be able to stand looking at them for a full year, but a year passed and I hardly ever even noticed them!

Now that last year's leaves are gone, I wonder if I can manage to collect this year's leaves before one or both of the next pick-up dates. It would be very special to dispose of TWO years of leaves in one November.

Then again, I just might wait until next year to dispose of this year's leaves...
