At the End...

Well, the makeover competition is almost over and i will probably never revisit this website again. Not because i don't love animals, but because i don't like this websites ethics. We were in 29th place and then, suddenly had MANY points taken away from us. However, when we asked why we had them taken away...it just got worse and they took more away from us.

Congrats to the shelter who does win the makeover...i hope that you really deserve it and i hope that your truly a no-kill shelter!!

In the end, we're all here for one cause, and i think we all forgot that throughout this competition!!

:-D

I think all of the shelters have been losing points as zootoo has tried to "clean up" the site. I know I have lost a few thousand points because some of the products that I reviewed were removed from the site. That has happened to a lot of people.... a lot of products that were added to the site, that many people reviewed, were deleted so many people lost points. I am sorry that it bumped FFOA back. I am from nearby Washington County and was hoping to see y'all and Western PA HS in the top 20. You are right, we are all in it for the animals, and I know that a lot of people lost site of that during this. I saw a lot of people writing abusive, untrue reviews of the shelter I am supporting (from people who live on the other side of the country!). Unfortunately, something I have found as someone involved in animal rescue is that there is a lot of conflict and bad blood in the animal rescue and welfare community as a whole. It's always one shelter vs another. . . PETA vs Best Friends. . . . conflicts of ideas, ideals, and a lot of bitterness. I hope someday that won't be the case anymore, but people are people, I guess.

Lauren, hi just wanted to let you know the main important thing is to stay focus on helping the animals. we are the no-kill shelter at the FFOA. even thou we lost points too, we just stay sharp and strong to do whatever we can do to help our animals. when we continue to saved, feeds, find homes for the animals we are on the winning ground no matter who loose or win the makeovers. what matters the most is showing the world we care about the animals and make a different by helping the no kill shelters saving the animals lives. tomorrow will always be a better day.

So true! It is a shame that people working for the same cause cannot get along. I think that most of us at Fayette Friends of Animals are friendly, nice people and do not hold any bitterness towards any other shelters. We are a friendly, hard working group of volunteers of all ages. Come visit our shelter sometime. We open to public at 1 pm. during the week, until 5 pm. and noon to four pm on Saturday. We are planning an annual fundraiser at the Christian Klay Winery in Chalk Hill on June 29. It is in the mountains above Uniontown. We call it Expawsition. People can bring their dogs, contests, vendors, K9 demonstration, spaghetti dinner. Lots of fun!

Carol, it's very exciting looking forward to our expawsition! wait until our FFOA see my baby boy husky. he is 12 years old and acted like a baby lol, he is so funny! I have known we lost points for the makeovers. but do stay strong and continue to make a different for our animals at our FFOA. we are still lucky we have people that are willing to help us out. we are still winning by making a different saving the animals lives. even thou we lost the makeovers, everyday it gets better. take care.
