Pit Bull negativity.

Our family just adopted our first Pit Bull. If you don't know this breed, you should! This is truly an amazing breed, they are the most affectionate dogs. We have learned so much over the past few weeks about this breed and the amazing amounts of love they have for their owners. We are proud to own an American Pit Bull Terrier but our community is a little standoffish where Georgia is concerned. Everyone thinks that she is a ticking timebomb, that one day she will harm someone. We have enrolled Georgia in puppy classes at PetSmart and she is doing great. We enjoy the interaction with other puppy owners and she loves the attention she gets and the time spent with other puppies and children in the class. Georgia goes to baseball games and practices and loves everybody she meets, she goes shopping with me and plays in the park with other kids. She loves kids, if you are walking her and she sees a stroller we have to command her to sit until it is past us because she just wants to jump in with the baby and give kisses, some people are scared by her antics but this display is nothing but pure love, she just wants to see the baby. We are new to the breed, so if any Pit Bull owners want to send some advice our way or just simply want to share pictures and stories we would love to hear from any and all. Thanks

Pitt bulls, in my opinion, are great.
If they didn't have all those bad rumors and history, they'd be known for their natural smile and loving, playful nature!

I agree, remember Petey on Our Gang?? (Little Rascals)

I agree! My daughter is a therapist and drives to her clients homes. Yesterday she came home and was beaming, although her dog(who I was sitting for) and Pippin were ALL over her and wouldn't leave her alone!! Her client had NINE pitbulls. I don't know how much work my daughter accomplished , but she came home with a totally different attitude. The client asked her if she wanted to go outdoors and play with them individually as they're not all in one spot. I'm so glad that she had that experience. She had absolutely nothing negative to say.

What A BEAUTY..I have never owned a pitbull but do feel bad for their history. I have met one pitbull, that my youngest daughter brought to visit during X-MAS a few yrs ago, and what a sweetie. However, I can only express what I do to my kids...Unless you ( my kids) have some great need for a pitbull or any very large dog, Why get one? My other daughter has a wonderful sweet Bull Terrier...They really love Bull Terriers..My concern was...these large/ strong dogs are very powerful. My dogs might become irritated and bite me and others-which they do once in awhile- but they can't mame or kill us. Now that you have a dog with that much jaw power, as my daughter does, you just have to protect the dog since if she dares to defend herself...there will be trouble. I hope that I haven't offended anyone since you asked for advice from pitbull owners..of which I am not. Georgia is BEAUTIFUL!!!

No offense taken, thank you for writing. Georgia is a great asset to our family. We lost our English Bulldog last year and Georgia definately fills in that empty space.
