The Good Dog Foundation - Sheffields class

So Sheffield has been attending Therapy Dog training class. He does really well in the classes and he loves getting extra attention (away from Madison). The Good Dog Foundation is pretty awesome. They have networks in place with my hospitals and re-hab type places throughout the city. Our class has about 9 dogs in the class. Sometimes the same people don't come every week since there are 3 places to take class. The few i am mentioning below come every week to the same location like us.

Bamboo - is an Olde English Sheepdog. He is HUGE. Sheffield had no idea if that was a dog or not at first! He is really sweet, and a great size if you were sitting in a wheel chair. His head still comes up over your lap!!!

Ruby - a cinnoman colored retired greyhound. She is so mellow, OMG. She regularly falls asleep in class! haha. Her owner is so nice too. Sheffield and Ruby are becoming tight friends. (must be a westie-greyhoun thing).

Channel - Golden Retreiver, 1 years old. She is such a sweetheart, but still has some puppy mannerisms that make her irresistable.

Brenda- an oreo-type colored shih tzu puppy. She is so sweet and friendly and great for placing in laps. She is a love muffin, but her and Sheffield want to romp around and get into trouble together... haha.

Then Sheffield!! The trainer says that Sheffield is a little shy/timid, but that he recovers quick. Also that his reaction to being scared is to hide behind mommy, which is more desirably then barking, lounging, etc. Sheffield does get overwhelmed with all the dogs in class sometimes, but as soon as people come over to him, he just waits to be petted. He knows where class is, and his tail wags before we enter the building!!!

Wonderful! Glad that Sheffield is enjoying his class and doing well. I'll bet Sheffield and Brenda are a real contrast to the rest of the class. I'm surprised Sheffield didn't take to the Sheep Dog immediately - after all, what a mountain of fur to cuddle with. Of course, Greyhounds are fun to cuddle with too (Chance knows that). Good luck with the rest of the class and enjoy.

I think Sheffield had never seen a dog that big before, he was like, what is that??? hahaha. Plus the dog is always panting.. no sheffield is more comfortable with him, but the first class, sheffield did not want to go near him. Brenda and Sheffield are definitly different, but, they can help people in different ways. Sheffield is an easy dog to walk. So we can attach an extra leash for him, so that someone could help walk him. He also is good if a patient is laying a bed, since he is small.
