rub a dub dub....one pig in a tub...

After tidying up my dining room, I checked on the pigs and noticed that Truffles was a bit "fragrant." She tends to find one spot to sit and lets the poop pile up under her. I use baby wipes to spot clean my guinea pigs, but I thought she really could use a bath, so that's what I did. Curly and she are usually bathed together, but Curly was just fine.

Truffles likes her baths. She sits patiently and loves it when I shampoo her. Curly is normally nearby, so that's probably a comfort to her, too. This time, Truffles was not as happy. I think she noticed Curly was missing and made a few loud calls out to her. It was a different sound I've rarely ever heard from a guinea pig, but I could tell what it meant.

The bath was quick and easy and I quickly blow dried her on low setting. What I didn't expect was, that reaction I got when I put her back in the cage with Curly Fry. Curly approached her and sniffed her all over, probably confused by the smell of the shampoo. Then, she stopped and started licking Truffles all over. It was so cute; sort of like a mother cat licking her kittens. Truffles just sat there, taking it in, until Curly got to her face. Then, she let out a few wheeks of protest but still didn't move.

A short while later, I checked on them again and they were sound asleep, side by side. They are a bonded pair now, those two...

I'm glad that Curly Fry and Truffles are so compatible. You really made their lives better by putting them together.

Truffles is such a cutie.I guess she was just use to routine, and freaked a bit when she didn't see Mama foster Curly. :)

Last night it was so funny because they were both under a piece of fleece and anytime Curly would move around, Truffles would cry. All I'd have to do is say "shh" and Truffles would stop...

I never bathe them unless they really need it. Puzzle has only been bathed once...when I adopted her.

I videotaped the very end where Truffles was complaining when Curly was licking her face. I haven't uploaded it yet. The first part was better when she was licking her all over.

It amazes to see the empathy animals display sometimes. I really think Curly is a nurturer by nature. The person who gave Oreo and her up said they had multiple litters. I think she has that motherly instinct in her. One of their bowls was dirty yesterday. I took it out so I could replace it with a clean one and I saw them both go to eat out of the other bowl. Truffles put her head in it and I could tell Curly wanted to get in there. She kept shifting her weight around impatiently, but she let Truffles finish. After she was done, Curly flipped the dish sideways to get her turn.
